Overview

The Centre for Research in Child Development (CRCD) was established in 2017 with funding from the Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE). Hosted at the National Institute of Education (NIE), the CRCD conducts studies focusing on factors that influence the course of development from infancy through middle childhood. The Centre is interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

• Testing, measurement, psychometrics

• With applications in quantitative psychology and early childhood

Candidates with appropriate qualifications and relevant research experience are encouraged to apply. We invite applications for the position of Education Research Scientist/Senior Education Research Scientist to join the CRCD. 

Requirements

• PhD in a relevant discipline

• Minimum 2 years of post-PhD experience

• Ability to lead a research team

• Track record in the following areas:

• High-quality publications (please provide samples and information on the quality and impact of your work based on citations and ranking of journal publications)

• Planning and writing research project proposals that are funded through competitive peer-reviewed funding processes

• Independence in research (i.e. sole authorship/senior authorship of high-quality publications and invited presentations at conferences)

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (spoken and written English)

• Ability to work with colleagues within a team

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement the centre’s research programme
  Take a leading role in the development of research projects and programmes and in seeking and pursuing appropriate external funding

• Disseminate the outcomes of research in peer-reviewed publications of international standing

• Support CRCD in its efforts to impact practice and policy through research projects and programmes

• Manage and conduct administrative and management tasks associated with research or programme

• Participate in research of strategic importance to CRCD and NIE
  Participate in the wider research and service activities of CRCD and NIE

Hosted at the Office of Education Research (OER) in the National Institute of Education (NIE), the SoLEC conducts research that integrates insights from multiple fields, including neurosciences, cognitive science, psychology, sociology, education and other areas. The Centre is interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

• cognitive neuroscience

• educational neuroscience

Responsibilities

• Research and assess current and future learning needs of NTU students with different stakeholders (eg employers, industry professionals, Faculty, colleagues)
• Conceptualise and design new programmes
• Facilitate and conduct in-house career and employability skills workshops
• Source and collaborate with companies to provide skills training
• Source suitable career programmes and/or external training consultants
• Partner and provide training advisory and workshops to Colleges and Schools
• Evaluate training programmes’ and trainers’ effectiveness and relevance
• Develop career resources and training materials to support students’ learning
• Source and evaluate ed-tech tools/platforms for career programmes
• Support workshop administration (eg training schedule, vendor liaison, procurement, payment, logistic arrangements)
• Create publicity materials and monitor registrations
• Provide regular training statistics for reporting and strategic decision making

Requirements

• A recognized degree with at least 4 years’ experience in learning and development, curriculum design and planning, and/or course administration
• ACTA / ACLP / DACE from WSQ would be preferred
• Competent in content development and implementation with knowledge of various training methodologies
• Knowledgeable in learning strategies, pedagogies and ed-tech tools/platforms
• Knowledgeable and has a wide networking of contacts and resources in skills at least 3 of the following areas: Digital Literacy, Critical Thinking/Design Thinking, Communication, Leadership, Global & Cultural Awareness,
• Proficient in MS Office tools and in database software
• Experienced trainer with excellent presentation/facilitation skills and ability to engage young adults
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong critical thinking and decision making
• Meticulous with strong organization and administration skills
• Excellent team player with strong interpersonal skills
