The Research Engineer will work under the Senior Researcher of Obayashi Construction Tech Lab Singapore (OCLS) on a collaborative research project with a university in Singapore. In this project, the Research Engineer will be involved in the development of a robotics- related platform and will also conduct tests by bringing the robot to construction sites and handling on-site debugging.

Job Responsibilities:

• Contributing to the development of robotics-related platforms, ensuring alignment with project goals and specifications.
• Creating comprehensive test cases to evaluate platforms functionality and performance.
• Conducting acceptance testing of programs developed by the university to ensure they meet project specifications and standards.
• Assessing the compatibility of robotics-related platforms with construction robots in the market to ensure smooth integration and operational efficiency.
• Developing and testing the adapter for industrial construction robots leveraging open-RMF
• Conducting field tests by deploying robots and the platform at construction sites to evaluate performance and functionality.
• Performing on-site debugging and troubleshooting to address any issues that arise during testing.
• Documenting research findings and contributing to project reports and presentations.
• Defining and managing the detailed project specifications and requirements.
• Assisting in the planning and execution of robotics-related events, including support for coordination, logistics, and on-site management.
• Supporting for the formulation of strategies for the commercialization of research results and business initiatives in the field of construction robotics.
• Other related tasks as required by job role.

Minimum Qualification:

• Master’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering related field.
• 2-5 years work experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Experience with Ubuntu, docker, ROS2
• Coding in C++, Python
• Project management experience
• Coding in JavaScript, TypeScript
• Experience with Gazebo/Isaac Sim
• Knowledge in data base / edge computing / front-end
• Construction industry experience

Job Descriptions:

The Senior Research Data Engineer will lead the development of web applications to optimize data collection processes, leveraging expertise in Qualtrics application programming. Responsibilities include designing and implementing efficient data workflows, collaborating with other developers and operation teams, and ensuring the integration of Qualtrics features for enhanced data quality. Strong programming skills, proficiency in web technologies, and a deep understanding of Qualtrics are essential for success in this role. Proficiency in other data collection application such as NIPO will be an added advantage. The Senior Research Data Engineer will also be responsible for developing User Acceptance Testing (UAT) workflows to validate the effectiveness of data collection systems. Additionally, proficiency in survey scripting is crucial for creating dynamic and interactive surveys within Qualtrics. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless integration of UAT processes, and employing advanced scripting techniques to enhance survey capabilities, contributing to the overall efficiency of data collection initiatives.

Job Requirements:

• Experience: Proven experience as a Senior Research Data Engineer, showcasing a track record of successfully building survey instruments for highly complex projects and develop peripheral applications to further support the various operational and project specific requirements.
• Analytical Skills: Proficient in advanced data analytics, statistical analysis, and data visualization techniques. Ability to translate complex data into understandable and actionable insights. Candidate without strong analytical skill and experience can also be considered.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong programming skills in languages such as Nfield, Qualtrics, Python, PHP, R and SQL. Familiarity with data manipulation tools and platforms.
• Strategic Thinking: A strategic mindset with the ability to link data analytics results to business objectives. Proven experience in contributing to strategic decision-making processes.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills to understand and deliver clear outcomes and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Team Collaboration: Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including system operators, technology specialists, and business stakeholders.
• Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and propose innovative solutions.

Compensation:

• Monthly salary at $7,000 & above
