Job Description: As a High School Lecturer specializing in Media & Student Support Services, you'll have a multifaceted role that includes:

1. Delivering engaging and comprehensive lessons in media studies, covering topics such as journalism, film analysis, digital media production, and more.
2. Providing guidance and support to students in both academic and personal matters, fostering a positive learning environment conducive to student success.
3. Collaborating with colleagues to develop innovative and relevant curriculum materials, incorporating real-world examples and cutting-edge media technologies.
4. Serving as a mentor to students, offering academic advice, career guidance, and encouragement to help them reach their full potential.
5. Assessing student performance through assignments, exams, and projects, and providing constructive feedback to facilitate continuous improvement.
6. Demonstrating proficiency in video production techniques, including filming, editing, and post-production, to enhance teaching materials and student projects.
7. Overseeing media-related projects and student initiatives, ensuring deadlines are met, resources are utilized effectively, and objectives are achieved.

Requirements: To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Media Studies, Communication, Education, or a related field. Teaching certification or experience is highly desirable.
2. In-depth knowledge of media theory, principles, and practices, with a passion for staying updated on industry trends and advancements.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds and effectively convey complex concepts.
4. A compassionate and empathetic approach to student support, with a genuine desire to help students overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
5. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced educational environment.
6. Proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and other stakeholders to enhance the overall learning experience for students.
7. Proficiency in video production techniques, including filming, editing, and post-production software.
8. Experience in managing projects, coordinating resources, and ensuring project goals are achieved within established timelines.

GESS is looking for a fully qualified special needs teacher with second state examination or equivalent qualification for our Secondary School (German Section).

Tasks:

• Identification and monitoring of students with learning difficulties via standardized screenings and tests (e.g. German language, reading, spelling, writing, mathematics) in German language
• German language support (German as Foreign Language, German as Second Language, German as mother tongue)
• Learning Support Literacy and Numeracy in German Language
• General learning support (e.g. attention training, support of learning strategies) in German language
• Documentation of learning support, e.g. writing of individual educational plans and individual development reports
• Support of class and subject teachers in the implementation of personalized learning plans
• Counselling of teachers, teaching assistants, academic coaches, parents and students in all matters of education and learning
• Co-teaching and integrated support
• Close, interdisciplinary collaboration within the learning support department team
• Participating in school development processes

Requirements:

• Fully qualified learning support teacher with second state examination or equivalent qualification
• Humorous and resilient personality with pleasure in teaching and educating young learners
• Fluent English and open-minded to work in an international team
• Fluent spoken and written German, as you will need to support German speaking students that are attending our German speaking classes
