Bloomberg Economics offers a macroeconomic research service for Terminal subscribers. That includes detailed forecasts, supported by meticulous and original thematic research. The economists also produce previews of data releases and economic events, analysis of the numbers as they break. The goal is to offer Bloomberg clients a deeper insight into the themes that drive policy, financial markets and capital flows.

We are hiring for an Editor to join our team in Singapore. The Asian economy is critical for Bloomberg clients. Delivering timely, high-value research on monetary and fiscal policies and the future path of growth, inflation and other variables, and how geo-politics is increasingly shaping outcomes in a diverse, dynamic region spanning China to India and New Zealand will be essential to the ongoing success of Bloomberg Economics. In a crowded field, it will also be an opportunity to distinguish ourselves from the competition.

The successful candidate will be responsible for editing economic research that is aimed at helping our clients understand what’s driving growth, inflation, policy, financial markets, trade, and capital flows. You will be responsible for editing research from around the Asian region - everything from fast turnaround Reacts to more considered Insights featuring original analysis and research by our Asia economists. You will also coordinate with other editors to ensure seamless support for the global team. We’ll measure success by the quality and speed of editing and impact in terms of delivery across all Bloomberg channels.

We’ll trust you to:

• Ensure our economic analysis is tightly written, well-structured, compelling, and delivered quickly and accurately - routinely under tight deadline
• Complement the technical expertise of our economists by exercising news judgement on when to write, and how to write and frame research
• Collaborate with teams across news and research to ensure our research reaches the widest possible audience. This includes editing material for different platforms and coordinating with regional news desks and editors

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor's degree or degree-equivalent qualifications
• 10+ years of professional experience with at least 5 years in financial news outlets or in the financial services industry
• Experience working in a real-time publishing environment
• Experience editing news or research on economics
• Demonstrated skill at crafting narratives for a professional financial audience and delivering tightly structured, quick turnaround pieces with a focus on accuracy, readability and added value
• Proficiency at editing technical material, sound understanding of basic economic and financial concepts and the ability to write about data in a clear, accessible way
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skill in English

The role of Research Editor will support all ARE programmes by crafting compelling report content that informs and engages our audiences while ensuring accuracy and clarity. ARE produces research and technical insights for investors and we need a strong Editor to bring that data to life, taking great ideas and analysis and writing them in a thought provoking and compelling fashion.

The ideal candidate will specialise in energy systems research and/or financial journalism, have a strong background in finance or economics, a passion for sustainability, and exceptional writing and editing skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the the editorial process for reports, publications and writing projects to support the research teams with content on sustainability and investment trends, economic analysis, and relevant policy developments.
• Develop and curate content from internal and external research reports and insight pieces, transforming complex data into compelling narratives including in graphical and visual form.
• Collaborate with economists, researchers, and other internal or external stakeholders to develop comprehensive and insightful publications, high level thought leadership and industry knowledge.
• Edit and proof read materials to ensure high standards of clarity, accuracy, and adherence to our editorial guidelines.
• Review of Communications to Funders and other external audiences.
• Mine and verify existing data from reports to identify and craft key insights and tactical pieces while fact-checking to maintain the integrity of all published content.
• Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices in sustainability, investment and economic research.
• Engage with readers and stakeholders through various channels to promote content and gather feedback.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Journalism, or a related field; post graduate degree level is preferred.
• Proven experience as a writer and editor, preferably in finance, economics, or a related field such as academic or policy-oriented writing.
• Strong understanding of investment principles and economic research methodologies as well as familiarity with data analysis and financial modelling.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Expertise in creating visually engaging and informative data presentations to effectively convey complex technical analytics.
• Ability to simplify complex concepts for a diverse audience.
