Position Overview:

The Platform Observability Specialist role requires a highly proficient individual, that follows a DevOps approach to delivering solutions as part of a global team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering engineered solutions that are performant, scalable, and highly available across Dev, Staging and Production environments. Additionally, the candidate will take ownership of the platforms by carrying out maintenance, upgrading, capacity planning, and providing support escalation for continuous support of these platforms.

The candidate will manage projects in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, automate BAU tasks with scripting and configuration management tools, provide concise and professional documentation for new and current built services, and implement and/or coordinate changes following approved change control policies.

This candidate will be flexible and flourish working in a high paced and challenging environment.

Required Qualifications:

• Proficiency in managing observability & monitoring stack such as Prometheus exporters, Filebeat, LogStash, Elasticsearch, Prometheus, Grafana, AlertManager, and Thanos (Compactor, Querier, Store, Sidecar) is a plus.
• Experience with Linux systems administration (Windows system administration is a plus).
• Experience with Python, go, Ruby or Perl.
• Basic understanding of source control concepts, best practices, and the software development lifecycle.
• Full project life cycle ownership: project delivery from initiation to full implementation and deployment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Systematic and iterative approach to analyzing and improving systems and processes.
• Degree in Engineering or Computer Science.

Nice to have:

• Database knowledge:
• Experience with high availability, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Knowledge of PL/PgSQL, triggers, stored procedure development and optimization.
• Experience with other database platforms MySQL, MSSQL, MongoDb.

• Accountable for the performance for a range of assigned production machines. To analyze systematically and uncover the root cause of any unscheduled failures and provide long term solutions to eliminate/reduce them.
• Able to perform independent hands-on troubleshooting and ability to direct team or single-handedly return machine back to day one condition in a timely manner.
• Train & guide Associate Engineers and Junior Engineers on the technical aspects of the machines. Specify and improve preventive and predictive measures to reduce unscheduled downtimes.

Preferences:

• Self driven and motivated to continuously learn and grow his/her machine related technical abilities. Able to work under pressure.
• In depth experiences in some of these areas: repair of semiconductor grade CVD (chemical vapour deposition) machines, RF heating. Knowledge in vacuum systems, fluid & thermodynamics, system controls, material science.
• To continually review and upgrade preventive/predictive maintenance to improve machine performance.
• Able to do programming in PLC or other platforms is advantageous

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years working experience in machine design and equipment support.
