Dark Fiber Provisioning Engineer

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Provisioning Engineer to join our Service Delivery team. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end provisioning of dark fibre services, working closely with customers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure successful delivery and seamless service activation. This position is ideal for an engineer who is passionate about network infrastructure, particularly in the field of dark fibre, and who enjoys working in a dynamic environment where they can make a tangible impact on customer connectivity.

Key Skills and Responsibilities

Technical Knowledge

● Demonstrate a strong understanding of dark fibre networks, including technical specifications, industry standards, and best practices.

● Possess advanced technical troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve issues that may arise during provisioning, ensuring a seamless activation process.

Communication

● Interact effectively with both customers and internal teams, providing clear updates, managing expectations, and addressing any questions or concerns throughout the provisioning process.

● Serve as the primary point of contact for customers during provisioning, ensuring a high level of service and satisfaction.

Attention to Detail

● Ensure accuracy in every step of the provisioning process, meticulously verifying demarcations and setups to prevent activation issues and ensure high-quality service delivery.

Problem-Solving

● Take a proactive approach to handle unexpected challenges during the provisioning phase, using problem-solving skills to quickly address and resolve issues.

● Escalate complex issues appropriately to ensure timely resolution and minimal impact on project timelines and customer satisfaction.

Documentation and Reporting

● Maintain comprehensive records of all provisioning activities, including demarcations, project milestones, and customer communications.

● Generate timely and accurate reports to support transparency, track progress, and assist in troubleshooting or follow-up as needed.

Qualification

● Minimum 5 years of experience in network provisioning, preferably within dark fibre, telecommunications, or connectivity sectors.

● Good understanding of network protocols, optical transmission, and related equipment.

● Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

● Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

● Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

The candidate is expected to carry out the following job scope and assume the following responsibilities at Whitby Wood Mills:

Technical Leadership:

• Lead and manage multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring the timely and high-quality delivery of engineering design projects.
• Provide advanced engineering expertise in design, analysis, and innovative problem-solving for complex projects.

Computational Design & Coding:

• Develop and implement parametric models and algorithms using coding skills (e.g., Python, Grasshopper, Dynamo) to optimize and automate design processes.
• Ensure seamless software interoperability across platforms (e.g., Rhino, Revit, Tekla) for improved collaboration and project integration.

Finite Element Analysis (FEM):

• Perform and validate detailed Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to assess structural performance under various load cases using software like Abaqus.
• Use analysis results to drive technical decisions and improve design accuracy and safety.

Project Management & Planning:

• Develop and implement detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, resource allocation, and budgeting.
• Identify and manage project risks by developing effective mitigation strategies.
• Monitor project budgets, ensuring financial performance and delivery within budget constraints.

Client & Stakeholder Management:

• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
• Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation, client acquisition, and presentations.

Technical Detailing & Documentation:

• Prepare and review detailed construction drawings, specifications, and calculations for submissions to relevant authorities (e.g., BCA, LTA) or for international projects.
• Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations and standards in all project designs and deliverables.

Design Review & Quality Assurance:

• Review and approve engineering designs, calculations, and technical specifications prepared by project teams.
• Ensure that all projects meet the firm’s quality standards and comply with client requirements and safety protocols.

Mentorship & Training:

• Mentor junior engineers and design staff, offering technical guidance and support for professional development.
• Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the engineering team, including computational tools and software interoperability.

Technology Integration & Process Improvement:

• Stay updated on the latest engineering technologies and tools, integrating them into project workflows where appropriate.

Position title : Mechanical Process Engineer

• Working Days: 5 days (Mon-Fri)
• Working hours: 9am – 6pm (Flexible working hours)
• Location: WFH, NORTH BRIDGE
  

Responsibilities:

• Modifications to existing automation software (Siemens and similar) and to a smaller degree software for Rockwell.
• Creating new programmes for company system processes with transportation mechanical plants and developments.
• Quality checking equipment and software provided by subcontractors at plant manufacturers in South East Asia (and elsewhere as needed).
• Quality checking of electrical and pneumatic diagrams and equipment.
• Full FAT of plant equipment at the manufacturers before shipping and responsible for immediate reporting of all types of mistakes and errors to company with no delay and implement corrections in production during FAT test and reporting to company with all details before shipment of the turn-key projects.
• Installation/ commissioning and start up at the customers´site.
• Heavily involvement in commissioning/start-up, troubleshooting with the company during the work, optimization of large machinery/equipment systems world-wide but primarily in Singapore, US & Europe
• Trouble-shooting existing plants by phone/video with the subcontractors
• Support sales by reviewing specifications and customer requirements

Requirements:

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and above
• Willing to travel for up to estimated 90-150 days a year and more when production and sales are increasing. Project assignments overseas is mostly for 1 - 3 weeks per project only.
• Responsibility for all drawings on the base of draft or oral design ideas of company of skids-based solutions, pressure vessels and storage tanks, material handling and new developments, both drawings and corrections for production purposes and for sales purposes.
• Quality checking of received mechanical documentation from subcontractors.
• Preparation of mechanical documentation for the individual projects.
