Role Overview

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess backup needs, develop backup strategies, and implement best practices
• Configure and manage backup software, storage systems, and tape libraries to optimise performance and efficiency
• Monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot issues, and ensure timely resolution of failures or errors
• Perform regular backups, data replication, and disaster recovery testing to validate the effectiveness of backup procedures
• Develop and maintain documentation, including backup policies, procedures, and system configurations
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in backup and recovery

What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Backup Engineer position brings proven experience in IT, particularly in roles focused on data backup, cloning and replication, as well as Disaster Recovery. You should possess strong knowledge of data protection regulations and procedures, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively. Your ability to work collaboratively with other IT professionals is crucial for ensuring smooth operations.

• At least seven years' experience working with enterprise level Backup platforms
• Proficiency with Dell/EMC Networker and HPE StoreOnce VTL
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues
• Expertise with Backup cloning and replication, backup solutions for Disaster Recovery and VTL appliance operations
• Relevant professional certifications for Backup solutions will be a huge plus
• Experience in scripting and automation will be advantageous
• Strong interpersonal skills for providing technical support
