Our client is an investment firm focusing on infrastructure projects across Asia.

It is now looking to hire a Corporate Accountant who will report to the Financial Controls Manager and relevant finance team members on the day-to-day financial matters of the co, with an emphasis on the accounts payable, general ledger and accounts receivable (“AP/GL/AR”) function, financial and management reporting. There will also be involvement in finance project implementation and project costing when required.

You will be expected to undertake the responsibilities outlined below for the firm independently and thereafter, AP/GL/AR and financial reporting responsibilities for other corporate entities within the firm.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounts Payable (“AP”) – Corporate expenses and inter-company recharges focus

• Assist the Financial Controls Manager in the execution of AP function duties with an overall ownership in ensuring all invoices/payments (including inter-company recharges) are matched, reviewed, approved, executed for payment processing through various payment channels and postings into AP ledger or general ledger (GL);
• Ensure that purchases are in accordance with the co’s accounting practices, budgeted for and approved by the correct approving authority;
• Prepare payment package for authorized signatories’ approval, including but not limited to, cheque payments, manual and automated TT payments, corporate card payments, bank transfers and etc;
• Conduct payment reconciliation against bank statement(s), supplier reconciliation (where available), including the liaison with suppliers/vendors for closure of AP queries and issues;
• Ensure correct project/cost center coding of invoices and GST tax codes when performing AP and GL postings;
• Ensure project costing is reconciled against invoices and GL on a timely basis;
• Assist in quarterly GST filing exercises with the extraction of payment reports, general ledger reports and payment documents for GST filing agent review, including the liaison & closure of GST filing agent queries;
• Identify and withhold withholding tax (WHT) from payments (where required) and prepare WHT filing computation for WHT filings;
• Monitor and highlight the adequacy of funds for payment, including the preparation of month end bank balance report for various bank accounts;
• Prepare quarterly supplier/vendor payment disclosures on the corporate website;
• Ensure the vendor master file in the accounting system is kept up to date;
• Review and suggest improvements to streamline processes of the AP function;
• Ensure compliance and adherence to InfraCo Asia’s policies, financial delegation of authority and accounting practices when carrying out AP function duties;
• Provide guidance to finance colleagues to improve their skillset and knowledge on AP function.

General Ledger (“GL”), Management and Financial Reporting

• Gather accounting transactions/data from various systems and sources for proper records in the accounting system;
• Review and ensure the accuracy, timeliness and completeness of accounting transactions/data recorded in the accounting system, such that all known activities are recorded;
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, identify and follow up on outstanding items for reconciliation;
• Prepare journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation which includes but not limited to, depreciation, amortization, accruals, provisions, prepayments, reclassifications, cost center allocations etc;
• Drive the month-end closing of accounting system and prepare the monthly, quarterly and year-end management accounts (trial balance, GL reports, balance sheet, profit or loss and supporting accounting schedules) within required timelines;
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end reconciliation schedules to general ledger for balance sheet accounts and analysis schedules for the various project costing, cost centers in the profit and loss accounts;
• Where requested, perform analysis for assigned accounts, researching records and documents, identifying errors and submitting correctional suggestions for review and approval;
• Prepare invoices for billings to related or affiliated companies with appropriate supporting calculations & documentations (invoices, expense claims etc) for internal cost sharing arrangements, and recording in Account Receivable (AR) ledger and GL. Substantiate and articulate such billings to managers and external parties when queried;
• Support the Financial Controls Manager in the financial audits, including consolidation of accounts for the InfraCo Asia Group and tax reviews, and be the liaison for their request of information, schedules and/or explanations;
• Review and suggest improvements in the streamlining and standardizing of GL process and financial reporting functions;
• Ensure compliance and adherence to the firm’s policies, accounting practices and financial reporting standards when carrying out GL and financial reporting duties;
• Provide guidance to finance colleagues to improve their skillset and knowledge on GL function.

Corporate Support

• Be responsible for the AR function, which mainly comprises intercompany recharges and issuance of related invoices, credit/debit notes;
• Ensure proper organization and filing of accounting documents, invoices and other documents for accounting records;
• Provide support in finance project planning and implementation with focus on ensuring project success and maximising value from project partners/vendors, in line with strategic plans of the company and the Group;
• Manage outsourced partners or vendors across finance function where appropriate;
• Provide support on other ad-hoc tasks or assignments from the Financial Controls Manager;
• Act in all circumstances as an ambassador of the firm, displaying and demonstrating the highest ethical and moral standards, while effectively managing and controlling budgets and expenditure in accordance with the firm’s policies and procedures.

Ǫualifications & Experience

• Relevant credible accounting/finance qualifications (e.g. CPA, CA, LCCI, Degree or Diploma in Accounting).
• At least 5 years of hands-on work experience in accounting/finance roles (2 to 3 years’ experience in a Big Four accounting firm would be advantageous) in a dynamic and fast paced multinational environment with exposure in the Asia region essential;

• Understand the regional AML framework, policies and processes and be able to provide viable recommendations for initiatives that would elevate the efficacy and efficiency of controls in the framework.
• Co-ordinate and manage external consultants and other stakeholders to ensure issues and tasks are addressed on a timely basis
• Check the deliverables of consultants to ensure accuracy, completeness and meeting of objectives
• Manage system selection, UAT, implementation, post-implementation reviews and enhancements, co-ordinating with users and IT
• Co-ordinate with HO and APAC offices on AML and compliance matters and policies
• Other matters assigned by Dept Head or team head

Requirements :

• Degree or equivalent
• At least 3 years' experience in planning activities in Compliance or AML in FI is essential
• Prior experience managing projects, planning to post implementation preferred
• Experience in manging cross country projects is highly desirable
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills
• Able to work under tight timelines
• Strong project management skills

[What you will be working on]

As a FRAP business partner, you will be responsible for supporting the IT division by providing advisory on their procure to pay activities. This role requires extensive cross-functional partnership with various stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include:

1. Engaging with relevant internal and external stakeholders on:

• Budget management such as budget analysis/evaluation, budget preparation, monitoring and reporting

• Procurement activities such as policy formulation, co-solution and vetting of procurement requirement specifications and approvals for compliance with procurement policies, guidelines and processes.

• Financial reporting and management which include accounts payable activities such as payment review and processing, fixed assets and tax accounting as well as the use of data analytics to derive relevant insights and trends.

2. Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, while keeping abreast of policies, processes and key risks.

[What we are looking for]

To meet the challenges of this role, you must have/be:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Finance or Business Administration; or equivalent.

• At least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the areas of procurement, audit, and/or accounting.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and project management skills.

• Good problem solving and critical thinking skills, results oriented and able to work effectively under pressure or on multiple priorities and projects.

• Knowledge in either IT procurement, financial controls, and/or Government Procurement Instruction Manuals would be an advantage.

• Proactive, self-motivated, and able to deliver in a fast-paced environment.
