Overview

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and talented research assistant/associate to work on research focusing on identifying novel therapies for treatment of acute myeloid leukemia in the laboratory of Dr Shruti Bhatt at the NUS (http://pharmacy.nus.edu.sg/tenure-track-faculty/). The candidate will be an integral member of our research team and will work under the direct supervision of Dr Shruti Bhatt (https://pharmacy.nus.edu.sg/team/asst-prof-shruti-bhatt/) to support ongoing studies including identifying clinical response to targeted therapy in leukemia using BH3 profiling. Opportunity to perform high-throughut chemical screens on cell lines and patient-derived tumor cells. We are looking to hire someone who is interested in doing wet lab experiments. The individual will be responsible in one of the specialties: technical support to Radiography Information System (RIS) or Laboratory Information system (EPIC Beaker) in meeting business requirements. Staff with a keen aptitude in healthcare IT will be considered and appropriate training will be provided.

Main responsibilities:

• Work closely with Reporting Officer in the approval, acquisition and implementation of IT projects.
• Resolve project issues, working with vendors and key stakeholders as required, to ensure the successful implementation of IT projects
• Oversee the planning, directing, supervising, monitoring and coordinating of vendor and department operations, including assigning work activities, projects, evaluate work processes and procedures, preparing correspondences e.g. general and special reports.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize, design, develop and implement IT application features and enhancements, ensuring that system capabilities and process requirements are aligned
• Ensure that the business-as-usual and in-scope IT systems are performing optimally, meeting SLAs and requirements of user stakeholders

Qualification Required and Area of Discipline

• Bachelor’s Degree or diploma certificate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or other related technical disciplines.
• Degree or diploma holders of Radiography or Medical Laboratory Science with keen interest in IT are welcomed to apply
• Literacy in some Information technology disciplines such as fluency in Python and a systems language (Java, Scala, C++) and experience with Oracle database will be advantageous
• Prior working experience in healthcare industry is preferred but not compulsory
• Preferably 1-3 (Analyst) or 3-5 (Senior Analyst) years of relevant experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Willingness to learn new specialized IT software tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

1. Job Purpose
The supervisor is required to perform the portering duties of transporting/escorting patients, and dispatching of documents, specimens, medications, blood and mortuary cases. Supervisor is also responsible for managing porters timesheets and leave forms, asset inventory and portering system.

2. Duties and Responsibilities

2.1 Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%)

2.1.1 Transport/escort the correct patient (identify through Name and NRIC#) via wheelchairs or trolley as per the standard operating procedure set by the department.
2.1.2 Ensure patient safety and care are provided throughout the course of duty.
2.1.3 Collect and dispatch documents, specimens, medications and blood.
2.1.4 Ensure standard of hygiene set by infection control are met.
2.1.5 Conduct regular checks on the ground to ensure compliance by porters.
2.1.6 Manage the timesheets and leave forms of porters assigned.
2.1.7 Assist to attend feedback and complaints from users.

2.2 Secondary Responsibilities and Duties (20%)

2.2.1 Assist in the wheel chair and trolley inventory
2.2.2 Assist in conducting training and audits for porters
2.2.3 Assist in managing the portering system as and when required
2.2.4 Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein as assigned by.

Job Description

The successful candidate will work with Dr Brandon I Morinaka on production and biological evaluation of peptide natural products under a project on Bioactive cyclic peptides.

The objective of the project is to create new peptide modalities that can be used for infectious disease and cancer.

The main responsibilities of the position include:

• Carry out research for new peptide natural products discovery and development including recombinant protein expression, and production and extraction of natural products.
• Train undergraduate and graduate students.
• Oversee and maintenance of analytical equipment.

Qualifications

Qualifications / Discipline:

• PhD in Pharmaceutical Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline.

Skills:

• Biochemical techniques: protein expression and purification, SDS-PAGE, size exclusion and affinity chromatography.
• Molecular biology: heterologous expression in E. coli and other bacterial hosts.
• Analytical chemistry: characterization of natural products and peptides. Well-versed in the use of HPLC, MS, and NMR for structural characterization.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Able to work effectively in a team.

Experience:

• Previous research experience in natural products chemistry, biosynthesis, antimicrobial peptides, protein-protein interactions, or related research area.
