Requirements
At least 3 years relevant experience to optical transportation, SDH/OTN/DWDM solution, system design architecture, service delivery and operation.
Hands on experience with Network/Optical tester (MTS-5800, for BERT), RFC2544 testing, Optical Spectrum Analyzer, optical testing, optical measurement principles, and experience with photonic layer.
Hands-on experience with optical communication equipment including optical amplifiers, coherent transponders and other WDM equipment as well as associated tools and test equipment.
Familiar with Global Submarine Cable Network and Operations.
Proficient in handling/operating/provisioning/commissioning/TU&T of the following telecom products – E.g. Ciena, Adva, Nokia, Infinera, Huawei, etc.
Good troubleshooting skills, able to handle various SDH/OTN/DWDM issues and work independently under pressure
Layer 0 knowledge on Dark Fibre
Layer 1/2 SDH/OTN/DWDM
Self-motivated, good communication and written skills
Committed and responsible team player with initiative, resourceful and driven to produce quality work.
Able to use basic Office Applications (Visio, Word, Exel, Powerpoint).
Able to multi-task and operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
Advantages
Hands-on experience in Layer-3 IT networking will be advantageous but not mandatory.
Basic experience in Linux/ Unix operating systems management will be advantageous but not mandatory.
Certification in CCNA or equivalent (JNCIA/ CompTIA Network+) will be advantageous but not mandatory.
Responsibilities
Perform installation, configuration, testing and maintenance of optical/network equipment.
Maintains inventory of equipment and parts to make sure that is ready to use before the activity
Able to perform and know how to used network testers like fiber scope, OTDR, OSA, BERT, OPM, laser source, VFL
Perform site surveys, create site survey report, able to prepare and understand IDP (Installation Design Package)
Able to support migration/critical activities, by following the provided MOP (Method of Procedure) but not limited to laying of new fiber optics /UTP connections, labelling and updating documentation.
Ensure processes are in place to ensure all documentation and systems are delivered to Operations as well as ensuring the team are trained and equipped to support the operation of the newly deployed subsea network.
Perform on-site user trainings, with the objective of technology transfer to end-user.
Perform system tests, end-to-end integration tests and interoperability with other operator or customers.
Prepare the requirements and specification for network, telecommunication, SDH/OTN/DWDM services for projects, As-built documentation, IDP/EDP hand-over documents to end customer.
Team player and participate on a 24/7 support on-call, standby duties/onsite whenever as required.
