Our client is a well-established European industrial multinational with a global presence worldwide. They are now seeking to hire an experienced Legal and Compliance Officer to be part of their in-house legal team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic legal counsel and advice to the Management and the affiliates on various legal and compliance matters, including corporate governance, employment law, intellectual property, data protection, and litigation matters.
- Review, draft and negotiate a wide range of contracts and legal documents, employment-related agreements etc.
- Participate and assist in any ad hoc matters and projects as assigned by the Management to ensure legal and regulatory requirements are taken into consideration.
- Advise on data protection queries, policies, and practices.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance and emerging threats.
- Continuously monitor and review any new laws and regulations, including any directives, notices, guidelines, codes, circulars, practices etc. issued by relevant authorities that are relevant to the company business and to ensure that the company’s practices comply with the foregoing.
- Analyse and evaluate internal processes and procedures and provide recommendations to improve compliance, as well as the performance of compliance investigations, monitoring, and due diligence activities.
- Liaise with relevant authorities concerning various compliance affairs, including completing forms for submission to relevant authorities and assisting with necessary filings
- Assist with the preparation of regular compliance, risk management, outsourcing, litigation, and privacy-related reports, including regular risk assessment and compliance testing, as directed by the head office.
- Ideally experience with ESG implementation and directives, as well as sustainability reporting
- Liaise with the head office legal department on all compliance and legal matters and act as an entrance point for requests coming from the sales affiliates in the Asian region
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in law and minimum of 3 years of relevant legal and compliance experience and added advantage will be given to those with experience across SEA and China.
- A team member who can work independently and confidently across inter-departments and operate as a sole contributor for this role
- To succeed in this role, this individual will need to possess strong organizational skills and have good time management skills
