RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Officer, sits within MINDS Institute (MI) and reports to the Assistant Manager, MI.
S/He is responsible for the development of an inclusive sports application for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (PWIDs), taking reference from existing created prototypes. S/He is expected to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that the application is designed and built in an accessible manner according to the needs of PWIDs.
S/He should possess knowledge and skills in areas of programming languages for app development (Android and iOS platforms), UI/UX design principles and data security. S/He should also have an interest in interacting and working with PWIDs.
To provide support for MI's app development project in the following ways:
- Programming and coding for an inclusive sports application that is compatible on mobile and desktop devices.
- Conducting focus group interviews, testing and observations with project participants
- Providing on-site support and follow-ups with projects participants when needed (e.g at participants homes or at MINDS centres)
- Providing administrative support to MI's projects, such as coordinating schedules with project participants
- Sharing updates on application development and consolidated inputs from various participants with internal and external stakeholders
- Facilitating effective communications between project partner(s) and participants, e.g paraphrasing project information in an accessible, easy-read manager for participants where necessary
Other details of the work
- Occasional commuting and non-office hours work can be expected: the staff will need to commute to where project participants and stakeholders are, and during non-office hours where necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Diploma in Computer Engineering or similar fields; fresh graduates are welcome to apply
- Fluent in Eglish and another langugage (Mandarin, Malay or Tamil)
OTHER INFORMATION
- Proficient in Programming Languages such as Python, C++, Java, etc.
- Proficient in Full Stack and Mobile development
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office programmes (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Able to commute occasionally where necessary
- Able to work outside of office hours occasionally when needed
- Experience with interacting with People With Intellectual Disability is a plus
