About the role

The CL Business Finance Intern will work closely with the Regional CL Business Controller to provide Regional Management with business analysis for decision making process on a monthly basis. This 6-month internship will commence in Jan/Feb 2025.

What you will be doing

• Assist in the monthly APAC consolidated CL financial reporting, including key accounts, warehouses and KPIs
• Collaborate with other entities/countries, Middle Office, Front Office, MIS and the Business Intelligence departments to provide ad-hoc analysis when required
• Coordinate with APAC countries' finance teams to ensure the timely and accurate production of flash reports

The successful candidate

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Accountancy or other Finance-related courses
• Excellent communication skills
• Advanced excel (eg. VBA) with the ability to work with large data sets and complicated formulas

We are seeking a Business Analyst with strong expertise in digital transformation projects, particularly within the finance or insurance domains. The ideal candidate will have experience in Agile methodologies and will be proficient in Jira and Confluence for effective project collaboration and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, analyze, and document business requirements for digital initiatives in finance or insurance.
• Translate business needs into technical requirements and user stories.
• Engage with stakeholders to ensure that project requirements align with business goals and objectives.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Utilize Jira and Confluence to manage project backlogs, document workflows, and track progress.
• Support the product development lifecycle from initiation through to delivery.
• Conduct gap analysis and propose solutions to improve processes, workflows, and customer experience.
• Assist in the creation of business process models, diagrams, and user documentation.
• Identify and manage project risks, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
• Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure the final product meets business expectations.

• 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in digital transformation projects, preferably in finance or insurance sectors.
• Proven experience working in an Agile environment.
• Proficiency with Jira and Confluence.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand complex business processes.

• Experienced IT Business Analyst (>10 years) with a strong track record of IT project delivery for Financial Accounting.
• Requirement Gathering: Hands on experience writing business requirements in the form of user stories, ability to transform functional requirements from Finance stakeholders to technical solutions for developers to work on.
• Solution Design: Work closely with the IT development team to design innovative solutions that meet business needs and align with architecture principles.
• Documentation: Prepare detailed business requirements documents, functional specifications to guide the development and implementation of IT solutions.
• Testing and Quality Assurance: Develop test plans, conduct user acceptance testing (UAT), and ensure that IT solutions meet quality standards and business requirements. Work closely with QA team to provide requirements for automated testing.
• Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and the IT team, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycles. Work closely with the Program Management team to ensure deadlines are adhered and issues escalated in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Finance or Accounting.
• Proven experience as a Business Analyst in an IT environment, with a strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather, analyze and interpret data from various sources.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Solid understanding of software development methodologies and tools such Azure DevOps and Jira is a plus
• Knowledge in physical and financial commodities trading for metals is of advantage but at least understanding the trade life cycle for: oil, ags, liquids, gas, or power
• Proven record of implementing systems like: Allegro, Aspect, Openlink, RightAngle or Triple Point (CXL) 
• Solid understanding of interface design and mapping processes between systems

• Expense Management: Tracking and analyzing all company expenses, ensuring they are within budgetary limits, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Budgeting: Collaborating with various departments to create and manage budgets, forecasting future financial needs, and monitoring budget adherence.
• Invoice Processing: Verifying and processing invoices from vendors, ensuring accuracy, and making timely payments to suppliers.
• Purchase Order Management: Generating and managing purchase orders, including reviewing and approving purchase requests from other departments.
• Financial Analysis: Conducting financial analysis, such as variance analysis, to assess financial performance and provide insights for decision-making.
• Reporting: Preparing regular financial reports and statements for management, highlighting key financial metrics, and providing recommendations for improvement.
• Compliance: Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal policies, including tax regulations and procurement guidelines.
• Vendor Relations: Building and maintaining relationships with vendors and negotiating favorable terms and discounts.
• Data Analysis: Utilizing financial software and tools to analyze data and trends, helping the company make informed financial decisions.
• Continuous Improvement: Identifying process improvements and implementing best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations.
