Job Summary

Regularly performs the full range and scope of maintenance and housekeeping services that include, but not limited to: the upkeep of buildings, grounds, fixtures, equipment, NEXCOM Hospitality Group (NHG) guest rooms, public spaces, etc. Assignments include simple painting, plumbing, carpentry,

electrical repairs, maintenance using various equipment, etc. Takes initiative to ensure all aspects of the facility are working correctly.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs work in at least two of the following trades in the maintenance and repair of buildings and related fixtures. Maintains work order log and follows up as required. Reports status to supervisor. Logs trouble calls with contractor, as appropriate.
• Plumbing: Makes basic plumbing repairs to sinks, faucets, commodes, tanks, urinals, P-traps, shut-off valves on washing machines and water supply which can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, resealing, replacing defective parts or units, installing water heaters, garbage disposals, faucets and sinks.
• Washer/Dryer repair: Performs routine maintenance on washers and dryers to include cleaning lint ducts and vents, replacing hoses and fittings as required, and referring more complex problems to supervisor for action.
• Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC): Recognizes the cause of faulty equipment and assists making repairs on a variety of HVAC units as appropriate.
• Electrical: Recognizes and reports electrical problems making repairs as appropriate. Replaces fluorescent and incandescent ballasts, bulbs and tubes.
• Carpentry: Measures, cuts and constructs or repairs wood or wood substitute items. Conducts basic carpentry repairs such as repairing or replacing screens; window and door frames; molding and trim; and repair and replacement of drywall or similar products.
• Painting: Preparation of areas and standard coating methods such as brushing, rolling and spraying and ensure surfaces are fully coated, protected and free from drips and runs.
• Responsible for a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled tasks involving standard methods related to the operation and maintenance of facilities.
• Work assignments (completed and in-progress) are spot-checked on a daily basis via documented inspection reports to assure that work practices, techniques, records, and other functions are technically accurate and in compliance with instructions. Recurring assignments (e.g. follow-up on maintenance requests reported by guests, housekeeping, or front desk) are carried out independently without specific instructions.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations concerning procedures, tools, mechanical and electrified equipment, commonly used chemicals and basic safe work practices is required.
• Complete all required safety/security training.
• Required to do considerable standing, bending, walking, pushing, pulling, and climbing. Must have ability to perform moderately strenuous physical labor as unassisted lifting, moving, and carrying of supplies and equipment weighing up to 45 pounds (100 pounds assisted) is required. Must be able to climb/descend stairs and ladders, stoop, bend, kneel and work in uncomfortable positions.
• Work involves normal risks or discomforts associated with property operations, facility management, and/or mechanical systems. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with potential exposure to extreme weather or temperature conditions. Occasional exposure to dusty or dirty conditions exists when visiting rooms or facilities undergoing repair, maintenance, or renovation. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided.
• Incumbent is expected to perform daily work on own initiative and carry out assignments in accordance with DOD and Navy regulations. Situations involving unfamiliar problems not covered by instructions are referred to the supervisor for resolution.
• Typically employee uses routine instructions and work methods that are common to the trade and may be general in nature. Where available the incumbent will rely on blueprints, manufacturer's instructions, manuals, and maintenance specifications.
• May be required to possess a valid state driver license, as travel to other facilities may be required within the normal scope of duties. Applicants will be notified when this is a requirement for appointment.
• This position is subject to the possibility of workdays on weekends and holidays, as well as, rotating shifts, often consisting of other than normal duty hours. May be recalled to duty and/or required to work overtime, including on an emergency basis.

Education & Qualifications

• Technical certification
• Minimum two years of experience with demonstrated skill in two areas (Carpentry, Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Painting).
• Knowledge in the applicable combination of trades sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
• Basic knowledge of trade practices sufficient to complete tasks using common skills.
• Familiarity with safe use of common hand and powered tools.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid driver's license is preferred but not mandatory.

Introduction

This position is located in the Finance Department, Fleet and Family Readiness, Singapore Area Coordinator (SAC), Singapore. The primary purpose of this position is to perform accounting functions payables and minimal receivables, SAP processing and reconciliation, Singapore local national payroll processing, CPF submission and taxation reporting, and supporting cash cage function.

Duties

• Responsible for processing accounts payable transactions. This includes entering approved invoices into SAP, reviewing company code/general ledger account coding, reviewing vendor information, processing Electronic Funds Transfers (EFTs) where appropriate and filing the supporting documentation in the appropriate files.
• Processes Singapore Local National bi-weekly payroll and NAF US employee timecards.
• Creates and validates manual check proposals, completes the manual check print run, mail checks to the appropriate vendor and files the supporting documentation and check copies in the appropriate files.
• Reconciles accounts payable subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger. When necessary, creates the journal entries needed to clear reconciling items.
• Organizes and maintains the accounts payable filing system and is responsible for transferring to long-term storage, purging, retrieving and rotating files as specified by Navy Correspondence procedures.
• Monitors and controls the petty cash fund to ensure the fund balance is adequate to meet general, minor expenses.
• Disperses funds to authorized employees.
• Prepares and posts to general ledger, on an as needed basis, journal entries to record petty cash expenditures and replenishment of the fund.
• Audits the petty cash fund as needed.
• Processes Local National Annual Taxation, Monthly Central Provident Fund contributions processing, and LN National Service Pay Processing.
• Trains activity heads on KRONOS timekeeping and SAP Financials.
• Assists with development of budget.
• Prepares audit report for review.Requirements

Qualifications

• Must possess a Diploma from an accredited Polytechnic in Accounting or related field with a minimum of two years accounts payable experience including payables processing and reconciliation.
• Must be familiar with Singapore Government employment laws and be able to obtain a SINGPASS Account for fulfilling of statutory obligations in selected SG Government portals.
• Experience with automated accounting/accounts payable systems and personal computers required. Experience with SAP accounting/SAP accounts payable preferred.
• Knowledge of timekeeping processing systems. Knowledge of KRONOS preferred.
• Excel and Word experience is necessary to perform account reconciliations and written reports.
• Sufficient knowledge of accounting techniques and procedures to understand account relationships.
• Knowledge of all areas of accounts payable processing and the techniques and procedures necessary to process both Electronic Funds Transfers (EFTs) and manual checks.
• Knowledge of automated accounting/payables systems, general ledger account code structures, and accounting procedures associated with accounts payable to be able to recommend changes or improvements.
• Possess effective communication skills, both orally and written, to peers and all levels of management.
• Ability to train personnel.

• Work is performed both inside and outside. Incumbent is exposed to dirt, paint vapors and fumes, possible electric shock, scrapes, burns and cuts.

• Lifts, carries, and sets up materials and equipment weighing up to 10 pounds. Occasionally, may handle materials and equipment weighing 40 pounds and over.

• Requires prolonged standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.

• Exerts physical effort in controlling equipment, carrying and setting up ladders and scaffolds and working from ladders and scaffolds.

This position is located at the Public Works Department, Singapore. Incumbent serves as an Engineering Technician in reviewing, assessing and resolving complex and diverse (e.g. multi-story, multi-trade, multiple technologies) construction and design problems encountered during the performance of projects assigned. Administers the Construction Quality Management Program on all assigned projects. Provides expert interpretation of plans and specifications. Reviews the project plans and specifications prior to contract award for technical soundness, compliance with Navy requirements and to determine practicability from a construction management standpoint. Conducts Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) inspections and surveys of facilities, equipment, and operations to determine unsafe/unhealthy working conditions, deficiencies and evaluations. Prepares the results of the SOH inspection and surveys and provides recommendations to supervisors to meet the requirements of applicable safety codes, regulations and standards.
