Bloomberg LP has built a significant media business spanning television, digital, magazine, radio and live event platforms across the globe. In the midst of a historic time in the media industry, Bloomberg Media is growing its global footprint and reach through new innovations from Bloomberg Originals to New Economy Forum.
Bloomberg Digital is looking for an experienced Editor in Asia to help conceive and build out a new weekend offering. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for intriguing and consequential stories both within and beyond business and finance, extensive regional knowledge, and a solid understanding of the interests and digital habits of audiences across the region.
The weekend edition editor will commission features, essays, reviews and interviews, relying on both Bloomberg writers and freelancers with regional expertise. In addition, they will select Bloomberg coverage to promote, including our best long-form stories, podcasts and videos; help prepare weekend newsletters; and collaborate with members of the design and production teams to create imaginative, immersive and useful digital experiences. You’ll work regular working days.
We’ll trust you to:
- Contribute to the weekend editorial strategy as we experiment and grow, with a particular focus on how we can best serve our growing digital audiences throughout the Asia Pacific, from Singapore to Australia
- Work with beat reporting teams in the region, as well as freelancers, to solicit ideas and commission stories for the weekend edition
- Edit a variety of formats, from stories to Q&As to newsletters
- Collaborate with design, audience and production to build out high-touch visual and interactive stories
- Select content from the region to promote in the weekend package
- Coordinate with the weekend breaking news lead in the region
- Use analytics to understand how our readers are consuming weekend content and adjust editorial decision-making based on user data and subscriber feedback
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or degree-equivalent qualifications
- At least 7 years of experience in a digital news environment
- Experience commissioning and editing long-form stories
- Experience in using web publishing tools or CMS
- A proven track record of collaboration with newsroom and media platform teams
- A strong understanding of how digital audiences are evolving, analytics and the digital subscription ecosystem
- The ability to network and build relationships across our large global newsroom, and among freelancers throughout the region
- Entrepreneurialism and flexibility
- Fluency in both written and spoken English
- Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organisation
We’d love to see:
- Experience in other media, e.g. audio, data visualization
