As part of the Global Compliance team and reporting to the Senior Manager, Risk & Compliance, the successful candidate shall play a key role in assisting Conyers licensable businesses meet and comply with the related Acts, Regulations and Guidelines applicable to their businesses, including those related to anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing (AML/ ATF) controls across multiple offshore jurisdictions, professional services and risk management. He/she will ensure that all aspects of the overall AML/ ATF and compliance programmes are carried out in line with Conyers global policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will assist the Compliance team in all matters relating to AML/ ATF and Sanctions in regard to on-boarding and ongoing monitoring, including transactional activity in support of Conyers customer due diligence (CDD) and risk management framework. This role would be ideal for someone who is keen to start their career in AML/CFT.

What Will You Do

• Assist with periodic compliance reviews
• Respond to internal queries providing guidance and advice on matters relating to Know Your Customer (KYC) and CDD for new and existing customers, and general AML/ ATF activities for customers across all levels of risk
• Analyse ongoing customer screening alerts related to Economic & Trade Sanctions, Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) and Special Interest Persons; research and provide detailed investigation documentation, and escalate as required
• Identify and document transactions or individuals that present potential money laundering/ terrorist financing risk and raise instances of suspicious activity to the attention of the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO)
• Assist as required in the completion of various compliance reports for management
• Become familiarized with regulatory regimes in multiple offshore jurisdictions
• Any other ad hoc duties or projects as may be reasonably assigned

What You’ll Need

• Minimum diploma or university degree in a related discipline – Desirable but not essential
• Fresh graduate or up to 1 year related experience with prior exposure to a legal, corporate services and/or regulatory environment preferred
• Strong analytical skills with proven attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of discretion and confidentiality of customer information
• As the role requires reviewing documents in Chinese, the ability to read and write Chinese is essential.
• Must be a team player with a collaborative approach to problem solving and willing to assist other team members as and when needed
• Reliable and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
• Strong time management skills, flexible, and able to meet tight deadlines
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, proficiency in the use of open source information tools and working knowledge of database management software is an asset.

Job Overview

As a member of the Compliance team, you shall assist in implementing the company’s compliance and risk management program to ensure adherence to the regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Know-Your-Customer (“KYC”) reviews of new and existing customers

As a Junior Operational Control Analyst for the Freight Platform, your primary responsibilities will be to support the day-to-day operations of the Platform in Singapore including Daily P&L and Positions and payment validation. Main Responsibilities

• Prepare daily trading PNL for assigned desk and close the trading P/L on a timely basis. This includes preparation of journal entries for accounting team to book.
• Review and validate daily freight payable transactions in accounting system for accurate and timely payments.
• Update futures/options margin accounts breakdown by desk, per broker statement.
• Review general month-end accounting tasks by accounting team to ensure that the financial results are prepared and reported timely in accordance with IFRS and Singapore accounting standards as well as internal policies. This includes Statutory and Management reporting.
• Perform month-end trading and accounting PNL reconciliation to ensure no major discrepancies and differences are accounted for, provide commentaries as required.
• Work closely with Freight Operations, Trading, Execution and Accounting teams to ensure that financial transactions including trading accruals and provisions pertaining to trading books are accounted for properly in both trading and accounting systems, and that they are in line with IFRS.
• Liaise with Accounting teams in offshore Shared Services Centre to ensure that non-trading activities are booked accurately.
• Coordinate and liaise with external parties like external auditors, tax agents, local tax and government authorities where required, during quarterly GST filing, annual statutory audits, and annual MSI-AIS Award submissions.
• Engage actively in the ongoing process of automating tasks and constantly look for areas of improvement.
• Assist the Manager/Controller to assess and identify risks within the business and any other adhoc tasks as required.

Experience

• 1-2 years of experience in Product Control/Business Analysis/Management Accounting/Audit/FP&A from shipping/commodities industries preferred.
• Good understanding of futures markets, hedging and derivatives mechanisms.
