1. Legal and Compliance Support

• Assist and support the Compliance & Legal Team in reviewing and interpreting laws, regulations, and internal policies, particularly those related to civil, commercial, and banking laws.
• Conduct reviews and analysis of legal documents, contracts, agreements, and other legal forms to identify risks and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Prepare and maintain accurate legal records, reports, and documentation in a systematic manner.
• Monitor, track, and research changes in relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines from regulatory authorities (e.g., MAS, financial industry bodies) to ensure the bank’s compliance.
• Assist in reviewing and responding to requests for legal input regarding laws and guidelines from other departments or regulatory bodies.

2. Risk Assessment and Advisory

• Support the team in analyzing compliance risks related to business operations and relationships with external stakeholders.

• Evaluate legal and compliance risks in contracts, business agreements, and projects to protect the bank’s interests.

3. Follow-Up and Task Management

• Track, follow up, and coordinate on compliance and legal tasks assigned by the Head of Compliance & Legal.
• Ensure timely completion of tasks related to audits, regulatory reporting, and internal compliance reviews.
• Coordinate and liaise with internal teams and relevant regulatory authorities to gather required legal information and documentation.

4. Process Innovation and Development

• Contribute ideas and assist in developing innovative workflows or tools to improve the efficiency of the Compliance & Legal team.
• Support process improvements to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with evolving legal and regulatory requirements.

5. Ad-Hoc Duties

• Assist and perform other tasks as assigned by the Head of Compliance & Legal Team, including legal research, preparation of compliance checklists, and participation in special projects.
• Assist to follow up and review requests from regulatory bodies, internal departments, and external partners for legal and compliance-related matters.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.) from a reputable university, with specialization in civil, commercial, or banking law preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in compliance, legal, or regulatory roles, preferably in a banking environment or law firm.
• Experience handling regulatory matters, including tracking legal updates and responding to external requests on an ongoing basis.
• Proficient in legal research, drafting, and reviewing documents.
• Familiarity with MAS regulations, local compliance and relevant laws and practices.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for document preparation and reporting.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external regulatory authorities.

Job Description

1. Perform gap analysis of new/updated regulatory AML/CFT requirements, Head Office (“HO”) AML/CFT policy etc.

2. Review and update Branch AML/CFT policy and procedures.

3. Review AML/CFT procedures/SOPs from business lines.

4. Provide advice to business lines relating to AML/CFT queries.

5. Review New Products, Practices and Technologies from AML/CFT perspective.

5. Conduct AML/CFT trainings.

6. Prepare regular/ad-hoc management reporting.

7. Participate in ad-hoc projects as assigned.

Requirements

1. Bachelor Degree with relevant AML/CFT working experience. Candidates who possess industry compliance certification (e.g ACAMS) would have added advantage.

2. Strong knowledge in MAS Notice 626 regulatory requirements Good working knowledge of the different business segments (Corporate/Retail/Private Bank/Card Business).

3. Good written and communication skills with ability to develop a strong working partnership with external and internal stakeholders.

4. Effective bilingual in English and Mandarin so as to communicate (written/spoken) with Mandarin speaking external and internal stakeholders.

5. Team player and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.

• Provide advice to Senior Management and BoD on risk, legal and compliance related matters.
• Provide advice on the rights and obligations of the Company and other issues arising from business activities.
• Ensures the company’s risk and compliance practices and limits are in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with other external stakeholders and regulators, including the Monetary Authority of Singapore and auditors, on issues related to risk, legal and compliance related matters.

Legal & Compliance

Risk

1. Global Mobility Services:

• Lead and manage comprehensive global mobility services, including individual income tax compliance (Form IR8A, IR21, Form B1 etc), payroll management, and advisory services.
• Provide strategic guidance to tax and human resource professionals within multinational companies, ensuring effective management of the tax implications of their global workforce.

2. Corporate Income Tax Compliance:

• Direct and support the team in various taxation services, such as analyzing financial statements, minimizing tax costs, and ensuring accurate filing.
• Oversee the preparation of corporate tax computations, ECI, Form C/C-S filings, withholding taxes, and applications for Certificate of Residence (COR) for Double Taxation Agreements (DTA).
• Conduct in-depth research on various tax matters and handle ad hoc tasks related to corporate tax.

3. Goods and Services Tax Compliance:

• Assist clients with GST registration matters, including reviewing and advising on the basis for GST registration, completing the GST F1 “Application for GST registration” form and ensuring supporting documents are provided.
• Prepare and draft GST returns for clients across various industries.
• Analyse and review sales and purchase listings to identify and clarify client issues.

4. Advisory Leadership:

• Provide strategic advisory support on taxation matters, advising clients on implications and suggesting applicable treatments for their business transactions.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their business needs and provide proactive guidance on optimizing tax positions.

5. Client Relationship Management and Business Development:

• Lead client engagements, fostering strong relationships, and identifying additional business opportunities.
