Job Summary

The Head of Business Development will be instrumental in shaping and executing the strategic growth initiatives for our digital media business. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Head of Business Development will focus on expanding market presence, driving revenue growth, and establishing key strategic partnerships. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in business development, with a strong background in digital media and experience in leading growth initiatives.

Responsibilities:-

• Strategic Planning and Execution: Develop and implement business development strategies to achieve annual revenue target and expand market share. Identify and pursue new business opportunities, targeting an increase in strategic partnerships and collaborations each year.
• Market Expansion: Conduct market research and competitive analysis to uncover new market segments and growth opportunities. Drive initiatives to enter at least two new market regions or verticals annually.
• Revenue Generation: Design and execute strategies to increase revenue streams, aiming for an improvement in average deal size and an increase in new client acquisition annually. Track and analyze sales performance, using data to refine strategies and achieve quarterly revenue targets.
• Partnership Development: Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners, content creators, and digital platforms. Develop and close high-value partnership agreements, contributing to an increase in partnership revenue over the next year.
• Operational Alignment: Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment of business development initiatives with company objectives and operational capabilities. Oversee the integration of new partnerships and business initiatives, ensuring a seamless transition and operational efficiency.
• Performance Monitoring: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to business development, such as conversion rates, partner performance, and revenue growth. Provide regular reports and analysis on business development progress and outcomes to the executive team.
• Industry Insight and Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and digital media innovations to drive strategic growth and maintain a competitive edge. Leverage industry insights to propose and implement innovative business models and revenue-generating opportunities.
• Leadership and Team Development: Lead and mentor a high-performing business development team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and results-oriented performance. Set clear performance goals and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities to team members.
• Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure all business development activities comply with relevant regulations, intellectual property rights, and data privacy laws. Implement risk management strategies to safeguard the company's interests and mitigate potential business risks.
• Paid Ads User Acquisition: Utilize knowledge of paid ads user acquisition to drive targeted lead generation and optimize customer acquisition strategies. Incorporate insights from paid ads performance into business development initiatives to enhance overall effectiveness and revenue growth.

Requirements:-

• Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Digital Media, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of progressive experience in business development or strategic roles within the digital media industry.
• Demonstrated success in driving growth and establishing key partnerships, preferably in a senior leadership capacity.
• A strong track record of achieving revenue targets, expanding market presence, and developing high-value business opportunities.
• In-depth understanding of the digital media landscape, including market trends, business models, and revenue streams.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Development and Implementation:

• Assist team leads with brand and content engagement strategy across all brand touch points and assets including in-app, website, social media, email marketing etc.
• Meeting key metrics for retention and engagement, setting clear goals and KPIs to measure success.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of brand messaging, tone, and identity across all platforms.
• Continuously explore new engagement tactics, technologies, and industry trends to enhance the brand's positioning and content engagement strategies.

2. Community Engagement:

• Foster a sense of community and belonging among users, followers, and fans by creating initiatives that encourage interaction and meaningful connections.
• Monitor and respond to user feedback, comments, and inquiries across various channels, maintaining a positive and engaging dialogue.
• Drive engagement through content strategy that leverages various formats, including but not limited to written, visual, and multimedia content, to resonate with diverse audience segments.

3. Media and Content Planning:

• Curate and implement the monthly media and content calendar, coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure timely and cohesive content delivery.
• Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to keep the brand's content and engagement strategies innovative and fresh.

4. Performance Analysis and Reporting:

• Keep track of engagement metrics and KPIs to assess the effectiveness of strategies and campaigns.
• Provide detailed reports on the performance of brand initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and proposing actionable insights.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• A Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business Studies or related fields.
• At least 2-4 years of experience in marketing and hands on work with various social media platforms, email marketing, editorial work, media planning etc. with a proven track record of success (portfolio of work).
• Strong writing skills and attention to detail with working knowledge of social media platforms and content optimisation.
• Experience in a startup company or with an app brand preferred.
• Experience with email marketing systems like Mailchimp and Mailgun and with graphic design and video editing softwares such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
• Experience with paid content partnerships and content affiliate partnerships.
• Able to navigate a fast-paced environment where OKRs and KPIs are critical.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in data-driven decision making.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Excellent command of English and a second language e.g. Malay, Bahasa Indonesia, Arabic or French.

Preferred Skills:

• Comfortable with being in front of the camera for content creation and hosting webinars.
