Senior Analyst, Actuarial

Job Summary:

This is an individual contributor role where the Senior Analyst will report to the Director and be responsible for actuarial modelling & analysis to ensure accurate & timely IFRS17 financial reporting as well as maximize value for the company. The Senior Analyst will collaborate with other sections within the Singapore team, Regional/Corporate Office/HuBS colleagues as well as work directly with the Chief Actuary. The role allows for maximum exposure to other team leaders within the Singapore actuarial team and across business functions, as well as providing excellent career development opportunities for strong candidates. Key Responsibilities:

• Production of IFRS17 actuarial reserve, LICAT capital calculations and other management reporting deliverables for a business line to be submitted to Regional/Corporate Office during quarter close
• Conduct robust analysis into the Drivers of Earnings of the business pre and during quarter close, including collaborations with ALM, Finance, Investment and Regional/Corporate teams
• Quantifying and analyzing sensitivities of the business to identify any potential vulnerabilities, as well as collaborating with ALM, Finance, Investment and Regional/Corporate teams to implement mitigating strategies
• Building out a robust process and implementation of LICAT capital calculations, while collaborating with a Regional/Corporate Office/HuBS colleagues
• Collaborate with centralized modeling team to maintain and enhance existing and new actuarial valuation models, as well as help in implementing new product initiatives
• Collaborate with other employees to build and enhance processes to ensure efficient workflows and a strong control environment
• Conduct any ad-hoc risk quantification & analysis and contribute to mitigation strategies and alternatives.
• Additional duties as may be required from time to time by Senior Management.

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Life Insurance industry
• Actuarial exam progression with a recognized international actuarial body
• Experience with IFRS17 is preferred
• Experience with any valuation and reserve/capital framework is required
• Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office is required
• Strong technical skills and problem-solving ability, able to work in a dynamic environment
• Strong cross team collaboration skills
• Experience with Moody’s AXIS, Pathwise, Prophet or an alternative actuarial modelling software is preferred

Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Analyst to become part of the Accident & Health actuarial team. You will be part of a dynamic team primarily consisting of actuaries, contributing to Group Insurance business initiatives and overall business objectives.

The Job

· Responsible to design, build, implement and maintain a comprehensive up-to-date database that is consistent, well-defined and well-reconciled to be used by internal stakeholders such as Actuarial, Group Insurance Product & Pricing Management, and Finance. This shall be the aligned baseline to be used by all functions.

· To facilitate business planning and interpretation of monthly Group Insurance P&L through understanding of IFRS 17 and RBC P&L standards, and compilation of monthly relevant financials.

· To identify and implement process improvements for end-to-end Group Insurance business process to enhance efficiency and ensure robustness in quotation processes.

· Perform annual assumption setting exercise to review key quotation components such as pricing model, pricing approach, pricing process, data integrity and quality, risk rates, inflation, trending approach, group discount, and IBNR loading. This should cover both New Business and Renewal quotations.

· To participate in product revamp, new benefits enhancement, maintenance of quotation tools and premium calculators.

· Enhance monitoring infrastructure to track key performance metrics of group policies issued. To actively monitor actual experience of policies against pricing quotations to identify early actions that should be taken to enhance portfolio performance.

· Take part in ad-hoc group insurance projects when required.

· Provide technical support on other related matters, such as marketing, underwriting, claims management and system development.

· Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks.

· Maintains awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company.

· Highlights any potential concerns /risks and proactively shares best risk management practices.

Our Requirements

· Degree in Actuarial or relevant fields, and good progress in Actuarial examinations

· Excellent in statistical analysis, problem solving and communication skills

· Proficient in MS Excel and good knowledge of statistical packages and strong interest in programming (e.g SQL, VBA, SAS, Prophet)

· Familiar with RBC2, reinsurance structures, IFRS17, AS400 system data structure, and SAS programming will be an advantage

· Three years of relevant working experience

· High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork.

· Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes.

• Support the development of a new system to allow customer service team to self-service for Par Fund related customers’ queries
• Work closely with various stakeholders in providing actuarial technical support or solution for setup of the new system
• Perform user acceptance testing (UAT) for setup of the new system
• Assist in annual bonus declaration study and implementation
• Assist in request for revised benefit illustration escalated to Actuarial
• Assist in policy enquiries escalated to Actuarial
• Assist in documentation relating to Par and UL processes
• Assist in other ad hoc requests / projects relating to Par and UL business
