Public Equities (EQ)

We are looking for a dynamic team player to join the Research Services team in the Public Equities Department. The Research Services team partners the public equity investment strategies to deliver Sustainable Top Quartile Performance. Accordingly, they are required to engage with external research providers as well as internal teams to deliver and improve research outcomes. The successful candidate will work with investment teams in Singapore, Shanghai, Mumbai, London and New York, as well as counterparties and service providers across the globe.
The Research Services team is responsible for enabling the right level of research support for Public Equities, working closely with the Head of Research and the various heads of investment strategies. This team is expected to be the subject matter expert to represent the Public Equities investment teams on their research needs in engaging with parties within and outside of GIC. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of the fundamental equity research process, experience in implementing research solutions and strong critical thinking skills.
The Research Services team is part of the Business Strategy and Management office in EQ. This is a mid-level position that requires an experienced candidate with a passion for driving results and a strong working knowledge of the equity asset class who can provide strategic direction as well as operational support. What will you do as an AVP/VP in the Research Services team?
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand core research/investment process, identify research priorities as well as design and implement solutions that will deliver impact. Manage stakeholders across investment teams to deliver on initiatives and requests on a timely basis.
- Identify research trends that will impact the business landscape and stay updated on industry development. Proactively consider and drive initiatives to improve investment and business outcomes.
- Manage research relationships and represent EQ in broker conversations with a view to grow the value for the business. Evaluate research alternatives and optimize consumption across the department.
- Work with external vendors and other internal Business Partners such as Procurement, Data and Technology teams on internal and external research/investment platforms, designing and implementing solutions that meet business needs.
- Run the Broker Evaluation process for the department, recommending policies and guidelines as needed around research spends, broker/research provider selection, research distribution, etc.
- Manage research commissions pool and research budgets to enable optimal use of resources.
- Enable smooth research access, facilitating escalation or service recovery where necessary.
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
- Degree in Finance, Business or related fields with minimum 8 years of relevant working experience in the financial services industry. Strong knowledge of public equities fundamental research and investment process is preferred.
- Proven ability to navigate complex issues and develop effective business strategies.
- Experience in facilitating and managing change initiatives within an organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically while also being hands-on and detail oriented.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical abilities with an eye for details. Ability to problem-solve and develop solutions by breaking down issues. Good process understanding.
- Proven ability to understand and anticipate research trends that will impact the equity investment landscape.
- Ability to work independently, and also collaboratively in a team environment.
