The National University of Singapore invites applications for research assistant/associates in the Multimodal Neuroimaging in Neuropsychiatric Disorders Laboratory (MNNDL), Centre for Sleep and Cognition, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The MNNDL group at NUS studies the human neural bases of cognitive functions and the associated vulnerability patterns in aging and neuropsychiatric disorders using multimodal neuroimaging and psychophysical techniques. We are interested in the large-scale brain structural and functional networks in healthy developing and aging brain and symptoms-related changes in diseases such as neurodegenerative disorders and psychosis. Statistical, computational, and machine learning methods are developed to analyze and fuse multimodal neuroimaging data. By integrating longitudinal behavior, neuroimaging, and genotype data, our long-term goal is to investigate the interactions among brain network dynamics, behavior, diseases, and genotypes to develop non-invasive biomarkers for early detection, differential diagnosis, progression monitoring, and treatment design.

Purpose of the post

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Role

We require a full-time teacher to work in the Mathematics Faculty who could potentially teach across the full 11 – 18 age range. In the Sixth Form, the school offers A Level Mathematics, A Level Further Mathematics, and IB Mathematics (Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretations at Higher and Standard levels). Whilst it is not a pre-requisite, experience in either post-16 pathway would be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching & Learning

• Deliver the curriculum to assigned classes in accordance with the School’s timetable.

• Contribute to the planning and implementation of curricular, cross-curricular and other initiatives according to the school’s calendar.

3. Management of Resources and the Teaching Environment

• Assist the HOF/AHOF in identifying appropriate resources within the limits of the departmental budget.

• Assist the HOF/AHOF in ensuring that departmental rooms present stimulating environments, which help to influence students’ attitudes positively towards Mathematics.
• Work on tasks as reasonably directed by the Head of Faculty for the fair distribution of work amongst the department.

4. Assessment, Recording & Reporting

• Ensure students’ work is regularly assessed according to Maths department policy.
• Set homework in line with school policy.
• Report to parents in accordance with the school’s reporting policy as laid down in the staff handbook.
• Use the information gained from assessment formatively, to inform planning and generate further improvement in pupil achievement.
• Assist the HOF/AHOF in the setting and marking of school examinations and to supervise entries for external examinations.

5. Pastoral Care and Co-Curricular Responsibilities

• Perform the role of form tutor as required and fulfil the responsibilities of that position.
• Contribute to co-curricular activities that broaden pupils’ experiences and contribute to the general life of the school.

Research Fellow

We are looking for a Research Fellow with a quantitative background for ongoing research in Public Health. They will be working within the team under the Principal Investigators Assistant Professor Borame Dickens and/or Professor Alex R Cook.

Candidates need to be able to understand statistical modelling, have a mathematical background, and be fluent in R programming. We will also consider candidates who have extensive C++ or Python coding knowledge as these are transferrable to R.

The candidate will be working with the Principal Investigator(s) on the analysis of national health datasets, utilising an array of methods to infer statistical relationships and health outcomes. Further mathematical modelling will also be carried out when necessary involving diagnostic flows and where appropriate, disease spread and/or illness progression.

The Principal Investigator(s) is seeking for an independent worker who is well-organized, analytical and codes competently. They will however be receiving support from a team of mathematicians, epidemiologists and statisticians, and have a diverse portfolio of tasks. Under the team’s guidance, they will be expected to co-lead their own publications. The Research & Development Engineer is reporting to the Research & Development Manager

It is the responsibility of the Research & Development Engineer to:

1) Project budget planning:

- Works out project budget, investment planning and product costing, coordinates with the supervisor and monitors project expenses status.

2) Production planning:

- Ensure project are promptly executed and delivered to customer according to customer's requirements and relevant industrial standard.
