Introduction:

We are searching for an Analyst to join the Material Management Team in Global Supply Chain (GSC). This individual will be responsible for the monitoring of key supply chain parameters, optimizing and securing sufficient direct materials to enable GlobalFoundries manufacturing with an uninterrupted supply of materials and control stock obsolescence.

Regional Supply Planning Expert

Main Responsibilities

1 - Project management

• Deployment of Planning initiatives at regional and local/site level to optimize the balance of cost and quality of customer services
• Identify and drive continuous improvement programs both internally and together with Supply Planning partners to deliver targeted service levels and costsLead change resulting from continuous improvement and/or supply chain initiatives (e.g. SCM Excellence, Regional PC)

The Senior Director, Global Supply Chain Management is responsible for leading the SCIEX Global Supply Chain Management function strategically and operationally so that the current and future business requirements and key performance indicators are met.

Project Title

Procurement Projects related to Analytics/Supply Management/Procurement Process

Project Objective / Purpose

The Silicon Sourcing Team drives the Organization’s Direct Materials Strategy and we are looking for an aspiring intern who has a keen interest in Procurement. The intern will have an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the procurement process with exposure to procurement practice in a semiconductor industry.

Project Description  

The intern will assist the Silicon Sourcing Team in various projects related to Data Analytics, Supply Management and Procurement Process. The intern will support the various procurement practices and ad hoc projects related to Silicon. There will be an opportunity to gain global exposure in this project.

Project Outcome

In this project, the intern would gain an understanding of the role Procurement plays in the Supply Chain and how this impacts the business. The intern will also have hands on experience in managing complex databases and learn how to analyze and interpret relevant data, trends and patterns.

Overview: Applied Materials New College Graduates (NCG) Program is a 16-month inter-department training program with the aim to nurture future leader for Applied’s Global Supply Chain organization. The NCG program consists of structured training modules providing learning opportunities through classroom trainings and interactions with experienced colleagues. The participants will rotate through positions in Purchasing, Sourcing, and Commodity Management, all while developing the technical and business skills required to be successful in the Supply Chain organization.

General Profile: Performs routine assignments in the entry level to a professional job progression. Typically has knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles and concepts. Develops competence by performing structured work assignments. Uses existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems. Receives instruction, guidance and direction from other team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Engages new supplier introduction and/or disengagement requirements to/from the Applied Materials supply base.
• Supports the maintenance of agreements with suppliers that provide the structure for all business relationships between Applied Materials and the supply base.
• Develops strategies to procure components at the lowest cost consistent with consideration of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need.
• Assists in creation of commodity road maps and implements commodity strategies.
• Supports new product development program and PLC process to ensure alignment with Applied’s commodity strategies.
• Drives material cost reduction projects. Activities include but not limited to supplier negotiations, collaboration with engineering on design optimization and should costing.
• Assists in supplier price and delivery negotiations; under direct supervision may negotiate contracts as necessary.
• Utilizes the preferred supplier selection and assessment process when selecting suppliers; Completes supplier risk assessment on critical and unique parts; Monitors supplier performance (delivery, quality, cost).
• Drives resolution to systematic supply chain issues affecting quality, cost, delivery or lead-time.
• Drives initiatives on process improvement, optimization and digitalization of work processes within GSC community.
• Under direct supervision, forecasts and communicates engineering, materials, and manufacturing requirements to suppliers. Coordinates demand signals through MRP to minimize inventory exposure.
• Review and resolve material shortages to ensure continuity of production activities.
• Provides input to outsourcing decisions by performing make versus buy analysis.

Requirements

• Graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Management, Data Analytics or related field
• Proficiency in developing effective executive reports and presentations
• Proficiency in Microsoft office tools
• Excellent listening, writing, quantitative, qualitative and oral communication skills
