Key Responsibilities And Role
1. Monitor and follow up with vessels on voyage orders, tank cleaning, cargo care and risk management. Ensure that cargo and ballast procedures are properly implemented onboard and verify cargo and/or ballast plans for compliance with all safety aspects.
2. Monitor and provide support for Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental aspects of company vessels. Maintain QMS/KPI data analysis and follow-up
3. Ensure in cooperation with QMS, that Navigation practices/procedures meet industry standards and are effectively implemented through the implementation of suitable controls, equipment and training
4. Reviews and comments on initial process flow such as Hot Work permits and risk assessment etc.
5. Monitor vessel operations for compliance with the Company's policies and procedures, ensuring that it is effectively implemented onboard.
6. Supports Master with pre-vetting preparation, including internal SIRE inspection and risk assessment.
7. Support Master during vetting and third-party audits and inspections including SIRE, CDI, FSI, PSC
8. Prepare initial responses to internal and third-party audits and inspections including SIRE, CDI, FSI, PSC and implement corrective actions
9. Coordinate Flag State Control (FSC), Port State Control (PSC) and United State Coast Guard (USCG) inspections and responses to deficiencies observed during these types of inspections.
10. Coordinate preparation, approval, and maintenance of OPA-90/VRP, SMPEP, SOPEP or other flag state-required preparedness plans.
11. Monitor the registration and follow up of Non-Conformities and planned Corrective Actions.
12. Participate in Ship-Shore Safety and Security Drills.
13. Keep Marine Manager informed about matters related to the area of responsibility of the Marine Superintendent.
14. Provide guidance and approval to purchasing department in purchasing activities of the navigation, safety, mooring equipment and tank cleaning chemical etc.
Requirements
· Must have minimum 2 year sailing experience as master of ocean-going chemical tankers including Veg oil and such heated cargoes on stainless steel parcel chemical tankers.
· Shore experience as Operations / Marine Superintendent supporting stainless steel parcel chemical tankers is preferred
· Good knowledge of Chemical Tanker regulations, Chemical Tanker Operations and Oil Major requirements
· Good leadership qualities, team player & strong commitment to safety/compliance procedures are essential
