The Role

Baker & McKenzie.Wong & Leow, is looking for a legal professional who has experience in international commercial and global trade matters. This role will involve working closely with the Tax & Trade partners and team on a broad range of trade and customs matters.

The ideal candidate would have more than 2 years of experience in international law firm(s), with experience in representing financial institutions and corporate borrowers in both conventional and Islamic banking and finance transactions. This includes expertise in acquisition finance and project finance, covering both domestic and cross-border deals. Preferably experience in advising clients on matters related to Foreign Exchange policy.

Role purpose:

The on-site analyst role is to ensure the proper functioning of personal computing and office technology so that end users can most efficiently and effectively accomplish business tasks. This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving customer requests and escalations from the Global Service Desk. Problem resolution will involve the use of incident management tools, as well as hands-on support at the on-site level.

Responsibilities:

· Perform hands-on fixes, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, managing mobile devices, implementing file backups, and configuring applications.

· Owns and drives issues to resolution including escalation to specialized resources within the broader IT organization. Remains engaged on issues until resolution.

· Provide Tier 2 technical support for client facilities such as video conferencing and audio conferencing services.

· Lead, coordinate and participate in improvements as they relate to the on-site IT environment.

· Serves as an advocate for the organization’s information security management system. Assists customers to work efficiently within the ISMS framework.

· Test fixes to ensure problems have been adequately resolved.

· Perform post-resolution follow-ups to customer requests.

· Evaluate documented resolutions and analyse trends for ways to prevent future problems.

· Field incoming requests from customers via both telephone and e-mail in a courteous manner.

The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 5 years of experience working on direct and indirect tax matters, with expertise in areas including, but not limited to: Thai tax law, corporate income tax, withholding tax, value added tax, specific business tax, stamp duty, inheritance tax, double taxation treaties, stages of tax disputes eg. tax audit process, appeal process, court proeedings.

Main Tasks:

Legal Support

• Day to day file management, monitor files and deadlines
• Management of work schedule and timelines of IP matters -
• Trademarks, Designs, Patents, Disputes, Copyrights and Domain Names
• Prepare/file official forms and templates in relation to recordals, searches, applications, examination reports, acceptances, declarations, oppositions, etc.
• Draft simple responses and submissions
• Conduct relevant searches such as prefilling checks, acceptances/co-existence of marks in other countries, etc.
• Prepare cost estimates
• Manage and maintain a variety of office systems and databases, such as emails/documents filing system (iManage), client/matter creations (Intapp Open), client/matter billing system (Intapp Time), records docketing database (GIPM), accounts portal (PBS), etc.
