• Perform rigorous quality checks and controls to ensure food products are safe and compliant with health and safety standards.
• Testing food samples in both Chemistry and Microbiology
• Work closely with team members and suppliers including QA, FoodTech, Engineers and relevant teams to enhance product quality and safety.
• Conduct sampling, food audits and inspection at suppliers’ sites according to company guidelines and checklists.
• Prepare reports and follow up on action plans arising from audits or inspections.
• Stay updated on the latest trends and scientific advancements in food technology and nutrition.
• Evaluate and verify product compliance against set specifications, including nutritional content, appearance, taste, texture, odor, colour standards etc.
• Perform ad-hoc tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Technology, Food Nutrition, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of food and laboratory testing, including Chemistry and Microbiology.
• Knowledge of Halal, Kosher, HACCP, FSSC, and ISO procedures is an advantage.
• Preferably 2 years of relevant working experience.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with cross-functional teams, vendors, and potentially clients.

• This is a contract position for up to 6 months, with the possibility of extension.

Job Description

• Performa variety of microbiological testing and ensure that all incoming samples are tested and completed on time using the appropriate sampling procedures, test methods and good laboratory practices along with the proper reporting and maintenance of records.
• Maintain an in-depth understanding of microbiological techniques and test methods.
• Operate, maintain and trouble-shoot laboratory equipment.
• To uphold the scientific integrity and professional reputation of both themselves and that of the laboratory and exercise professional judgement and seek advice from senior staff with difficult issues.
• Ensure recognised quality control procedures are in place and documented for new or modified procedures along with identifying and reporting any quality issues and ensure corrective or preventative actions are carried out and completed to the root cause of the issue.
• Notify the appropriate laboratory analyst, supervisor or Team Leader of any “out-of-spec” or erroneous results, of retests or other issues or problems with samples and analyses.
• Report all customer complaints or concerns to the laboratory supervisor, Team Leader or Operations Manager and take appropriate action.
• Sign off reports as a SINGLAS Signatory for the appropriate discipline (where applicable).
• Participate and contribute to health and safety continuous improvement initiatives.
• Report all incidents, including near misses, whether or not these incidents involve actual consequences, ensure safe work practices are followed and proactively promote safe behaviour and injury prevention.
• Participate in training and working safely including the proper use of safety equipment. Ensure safety at work is top priority.

Requirements:

Areas of Responsibility

• Work with internal / external customers and the operations teams to retrieve and compile responses and/or resolve enquiries for customers in an efficient manner and within Company policies and performance guidelines
• Provide technical knowledge and responses for customers, answer their queries, clarify results and provide testing guidance all in a timely manner
• To ensure customer information and contacts are recorded correctly in a timely and appropriate manner by: - Entering, updating & maintaining customer information and contracts in LIMS - Recording all call reports/complaints/referrals/quotations etc. into LIMS & SharePoint - Following up on incomplete/incorrect work ensuring that corrective action is put in place to avoid repeats - Following up on incorrect invoices - Coordinating/arranging sample collections for local customers - Coordinating with subcontracted labs in getting quotes, reports and invoices
• Prepare quotations for existing and new customers as per advice from Sales Team
• Provide training for customers to utilize company’s online portal as per request

Job Requirements

• Technical/science tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience
• Prefer Food Science or related discipline
• At least 2 years customer service experience, preferably in laboratory testing industry

Job Responsibilities

• Ensure specified procedures and guidelines are followed for the completion of all sample registration work. This includes unpacking, submission checking, temperature verification, correct storage and preparation of samples for despatch to the various departments within the laboratory or outsourced entities.
• Ensure recognised SOP’s and operational procedures are adhered to and quality control procedures are in place and documented for new or modified procedures along with identifying and reporting any quality issues and ensure corrective or preventative actions are carried out and completed to the root cause of the issue.
• Ensure that the return of chilly bins meets customer requirements.
• Ensure that the document filing/archiving system is maintained and files are archived on a regular basis.
• Maintain a clean and tidy work area and storage areas within the laboratory designated areas.
• Ensure that the Team Leader Customer is aware of any issues regarding customers’ samples or test requirements or task procedures.
• Reporting all customer complaints and concerns to the Team Leader Customer immediately and help resolve as directed.
• Ensure that all laboratory and regulatory quality assurance procedures are adhered to.
