Field Engineers work closely with other technical experts like systems, network, database and application managers, software developers and end-users to ensure that technical issues are promptly attended to and resolved.

Job Description

• IT Field Engineers have the following responsibilities:
• Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners
• Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance upgrades
• Setting up accounts for staff, ensuring that they know how to log in
• Engaging computer users to determine the nature of any problems they encounter
• Ensuring record keeping on IT incident and service management system
• Responding to breakdowns
• Investigating, diagnosing and solving computer software and hardware faults
• Supervising junior engineering and technical staff
• Obtaining replacement or specialist components, fixtures or fittings
• Repairing equipment and replacing parts
• Managing inventory records of hardware, equipment, software
• Managing stocks of equipment, consumables and other supplies
• Coordinating and executing assigned IT project activities
• Serving as SME (Subject Matter Expert) in the designated ICT areas such as VC (Video Conferencing) or IT Asset handling and educating end-users on proper use and care of such IT hardware, software & systems

Requirements

• At least 1 - 3 years of experience using, configuring, troubleshooting and supporting the IT systems
• Able to interact well with users and work co-operatively with IT colleagues in other disciplines to successfully support end-users
• Roving required

• Monitors the Network Monitoring System and responds to and addresses system generated alerts as needed
• Performs various network management and administration tasks remotely on client and FPA networks based on FPA best practices
• Manages and maintains the health and "uptime" of client and FPA workstations, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and related infrastructure operating systems and applications (ie: User Management, Backup, Anti-Virus, Email, etc.)
• Optimizes client and FPA's network performance meeting QOC metrics per client SLA's Monitors and ensures the stability of the network infrastructure hosting FPA's Network Monitoring System
• Provides after hours and weekend on-call support
• Prepares status reports and recap emails as necessary
• Prepares Timesheets
• Updates Trouble Tickets
• Creates Procedures Documents as necessary
• Documents standards and procedures
