Overview:
The Rao Family Office is a sophisticated, single-family office based in Singapore, dedicated to managing the investment portfolio and philanthropic activities of the principal family. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill a role of Portfolio Risk Manager. This individual will be responsible for both managing the risks associated with our investment portfolio and overseeing the day-to-day management and strategic allocation of assets. The role will also involve significant private equity due diligence and regular reporting to the investment committee.
Key Responsibilities:
Risk Assessment and Management:
· Identify, assess, and monitor risks across all asset classes within the investment portfolio, including equities, fixed income, private equity, real estate, and alternative investments.
· Develop and implement risk management strategies, policies, and procedures to mitigate potential risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Portfolio Management:
· Oversee the overall investment strategy, asset allocation, and portfolio construction to achieve the family office’s financial goals.
· Conduct thorough analysis of portfolio performance, risk factors, and market conditions to identify potential areas of concern and opportunities.
· Utilize quantitative models and tools to assess portfolio risks and returns, stress testing, and scenario analysis.
· Make investment decisions and recommendations based on comprehensive research and analysis.
Private Equity Due Diligence:
· Conduct in-depth due diligence on private equity investment opportunities, including evaluating the financial health, business model, market position, and management team of target companies.
· Analyze historical financial statements, projections, and other relevant data to assess potential returns and risks.
· Collaborate with external advisors, consultants, and legal teams to ensure thorough due diligence and mitigate risks associated with private equity investments.
· Prepare detailed due diligence reports and present findings to the investment committee.
Investment Research and Analysis:
· Conduct ongoing research on market trends, economic conditions, and investment opportunities.
· Analyze financial statements, investment performance reports, and other relevant data to support investment decisions.
· Maintain relationships with external fund managers, analysts, and industry experts to gain insights and enhance investment strategies.
Reporting and Documentation:
· Prepare comprehensive risk and performance reports for the investment committee, detailing risk exposures, performance attribution, and compliance with risk limits.
· Present regular updates to the investment committee, providing clear and concise summaries of portfolio performance, risk management activities, and key investment decisions.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of risk management activities, investment strategies, and portfolio performance.
Collaboration and Communication:
· Work closely with other investment managers, analysts, and team members to ensure that risk considerations are integrated into the investment decision-making process.
· Communicate effectively with stakeholders to explain risk positions, investment strategies, and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
· Ensure adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements and internal risk management policies.
· Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in risk and portfolio management.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA, CFA, FRM) is preferred.
Experience:
· Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in portfolio management and risk management, preferably within a family office, asset management firm, or financial institution.
· Strong understanding of financial markets, investment strategies, and risk management techniques.
· Proven track record in preparing and presenting reports to an investment committee or similar governing body.
Skills:
· Proficient in risk management and portfolio management software and tools (e.g., Bloomberg, RiskMetrics, MATLAB).
· Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
· High level of integrity, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
