Position Summary
We are looking for a Senior Trade Lane Development Manager who is responsible for the oversight and development of the Transpacific trade. The role will work closely with the country and local Sales & Marketing teams to discuss and evaluate sales opportunities, problems, business observations, customer feedback, etc and devise and drive responsive action plans and strategic initiatives that advance the commercial interests of Shipco Transport across the region.
Role and Responsibilities:
· Responsible for driving the volumes and profitability of the specific trade through well-articulated and achievable action plans and associated processes.
· Identify areas of improvement in relation to volumes / profitability and achieve targeted growth within a defined set of targeted accounts for the specific port pairs
· Identify additional growth potential for defined trade and work with Regional Head of Trade Lane Development to ensure optimal conditions are met to explore and start new services as needed
· Provide support to the extended sales team/s in relation to the maintenance and growth of trade lane specific business.
· Engage with country sales on most significant opportunities in the pipeline, including supporting and participating in the RFQ process with the Product team.
· Engage with customers as needed to understand markets and promote our services.
· Devise Trade Lane Management strategy for the defined area and involve all stakeholders as necessary.
· Work across the organization to oversee revenue generation, profit and/or expense objectives for the specific trade.
· Maintain monthly status reporting to management with volume and income variances.
· Work closely in the regional Trade Lane development team and share best practices across trades.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain Management, or related field
· Min 5 years’ experience in the Ocean / Air freight industries
· Previous trade lane management or Sales experience in a similar business
Preferred Skills
· Experience in commercial and operational roles in freight management/NVOCC business (Product/Commercial Business Development/Tender Management)
· Strong external and internal networks related to Ocean/Air freight
· Experience of operating in a global, matrix business environment
· Strong commercial mind-set and good product knowledge
· Excellent analytical skills & negotiation experience
· Ability to understand, analyse and communicate complex data to stakeholders
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office
