Job Description

• Manage a team in the most efficient manner. Groom, coach and train staff to enable them to carry out their roles effectively and efficiently.
• Responsible for ensuring that commitments to clients (Listed Companies and Private Limited etc) are met with the utmost professional standards. Responsible for overall client management, client retention and client base expansion. Review fee and propose fee increase, where appropriate.
• Possess an in-depth knowledge of existing and potential clients, their industry and key contacts. Meet prospective clients and and follow-through the job.
• Oversee daily operation – preparation and co-ordination of the statutory registers, books and documents, including submission of statutory forms and documents to the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) and Inland Revenue Authority (IRA). For Listed Companies, necessary submission to, Stock Exchange and The Central Depository within the stipulated deadlines.
• Provide and organise training for other department’s staff on updates in the Listing Manual, Companies Act and/or Stock Exchange other rules which may impact other departments
• Participate in the preparation of budgets and forecasts and comparison with previous budget / forecasts.
• Identify and recommend improvements to current policies and procedures, processes and client servicing arrangements in line with current business and regulatory practices and in line with industry practices.

Requirements

• ICSA qualified Chartered Secretary or equivalent related qualification with five (5) to eight (8) years of relevant and related working experience
• In–depth knowledge of Listing Manual, Companies Act, Catalist Rules and Securities and Futures Act, Insolvency, Restructuring and Dissolution Act procedures and guidelines
• Excellent interpersonal & negotiation skills

RESPONSIBILITIES

• The role will lead in the development and execution of communications projects, initiatives and global media partnerships in support of SMU's engaged city university strategic thrust.
• In enhancing SMU's brand and reputation regionally through the University's overseas centres, the role will provide support through strategic communications and media publicity planning, and work with partners on the execution of plans.
• The role will develop compelling content that clearly conveys the meaningful impact SMU makes through its education, research and global engagement, with focus on its three strategic priorities to realise SMU Vision 2025 and beyond.
• In internal communications, the role will develop strategic plans, write and oversee the preparation of SMU President's communications to the University community.
• The role will oversee the creative conceptualising, planning and production of the University's annual report and corporate newsletter.
• Other duties include conducting research, developing, writing and editing a wide variety of materials including quotes, video scripts, speeches, talking points, background materials, narratives, opinion-editorial and thought leadership pieces.
• The role will be Principal Counsel on comms and media publicity matters to School of Accountancy and School of Social Sciences, and to Office of Partnerships and Engagement, Office of Industry Engagement, International Office, Office of Overseas Centres and its affiliate offices, SMU Libraries and Dato' Kho Hui Meng Career Centre.

• A bachelor's degree in journalism, English, literature, communications, creative writing, or a similar discipline.
• A master's degree is preferable.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity, with at least 5 years of leadership experience in managing a team.
• Be adept with working with senior management and with various stakeholders across the organization.
• Keen interest in current affairs, and geopolitical and socio-economic issues and is also intellectually curious.

Nominee Director - Roles & Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Nominee Director:

• Facilitating bank visits for account opening and other external tasks.
• Providing Singpass scans and OTPs as needed.
• Executing SignRequests and physically signing documents as required.

Exceptions and Limited Involvement:

• The Nominee Director will not be involved in the management, finance, and day-to-day operations of the Client, except for meeting statutory requirements.
• There is no obligation for the Nominee Director to execute documents related to management and operations that are not screened by Seone.

Signing Authority:

• The Nominee Director will act as a signatory in specific situations, including incorporation (if applicable), board resolutions (provided at least one other director has signed), Ministry of Manpower applications, share certificates, and Immigration & Checkpoint Authority (ICA) applications.
• Other situations requiring the Nominee Director's signature, such as ACRA forms and IRAS letters, will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by Seone.

Requirements for the Ideal Candidate:

Job Description

• Lead the department’s strategic planning and budgeting in support of the Organisation’s goals and service strategy
• Translate corporate communications strategy into actionable goals for the department’s performance
• Lead and manage the Corporate Communications team to ensure effective stakeholder communications and education, as well as maintain and protect our brand and reputation through the various communications platforms, collateral and initiatives
• In charge of managing the corporate website of the Society, including periodic enhancements of the website and content management
• Responsible for the department’s smooth day-to-day operations in managing public and media queries, external communications and reputation management
• Prepare quarterly reports and insights for the Standing Committee and management to track performance and identify trends, gaps and opportunities to position the organisation for success
• Provide public relations counsel to the management and key staff

Requirements

• Degree holder with a minimum of 8 years of related working experience; with at least 2 years of managerial experience and leading teams
• Preferably knowledgeable and familiar with the non-profit sector
• Excellent communication and writing skills to craft press releases, media FAQs, CEO messages, speeches and internal and external communications. Proficiency in Chinese would be an advantage to engage Chinese-speaking target audience
• Influential leader with the ability to work at both strategic and operational levels and build a high-performance team
• Media relations and Public Relations skills as well as crisis communications and management
