Working in the Corporate Treasury division, you will have exposure to all aspects of the firm, including new business activities and critical strategic programs. Within Corporate Treasury, Resource Deployment and Strategy (“RDS”) is a unique opportunity for individuals at all levels to manage the firm’s balance sheet from both an asset and liability perspective and directly contribute to executing the firm’s strategy. Working closely with the Global Treasurer and other members of senior management, RDS is responsible for the design and execution of the firm’s central funding plan as well as the primary point of contact for all business lines through Treasury’s global “business coverage” model. The team partners with senior divisional resource managers to efficiently deploy the firm’s balance sheet in support of the firm’s strategic objectives. The team seeks to optimize the firm’s funding mix to minimize cost in a risk-conscious manner and is a key participant in decision making regarding the allocation of firm liquidity.

RDS’ approach to asset-liability management is both holistic and practical; individuals who excel in this role are equally adept at detailed trade-level recommendations and strategic thinking and are expected to develop deep knowledge of the funding products raised within Treasury, as well as the underlying business and client activity supported by that funding.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We’re looking for a professional to join our RDS team in Singapore. This individual is expected to contribute to decisions regarding financial resource management, as well as serve as Treasury’s main point of contact with businesses which consume or generate funding

• Develop and iteratively optimize the firm’s funding liability strategy, considering cost, channel diversification, maturity concentration, and impact to key liquidity and capital metrics, with a focus on APAC entities
• Build models, develop analytical frameworks, and conduct scenario analysis to help inform marginal liability management and financial resource allocation decisions based on liquidity availability, marginal costs, return profile, and franchise benefits
• Partner with key stakeholders in Global Banking and Markets, Asset and Wealth Management, and Platform Solutions to deploy the firm’s balance sheet, and to facilitate new activities
• Develop reporting for, and present analyses of, firmwide and subsidiary-level funding plans, for use by internal and external stakeholders, including firmwide senior management, regulators, and investors
• Engage with external stakeholders including regulatory agencies, ratings agencies, and funding counterparties in various forums
• Develop meaningful partnerships with internal stakeholders; develop tools to enhance decision-making capabilities

QUALIFICIATIONS

• Approximately 5 years of working experience in Treasury or a finance-related function in a major financial institution or corporate
• Excellent analytical skills, with ability to formulate problems, test hypotheses, and condense complex problems into plain language
• Experience managing and interpreting large amounts of data, and analyzing the output to identify trends and present solutions through business intelligence tools such as Tableau
• Functional understanding of financial institution financial reports, as well as subsidiary liquidity and capital requirements such as LCR, NSFR, and the G-SIB surcharge
• Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to produce polished presentation materials for senior executives
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Highly motivated, detail-oriented self-starter who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment and balancing multiple priorities

Job Responsibilities:

To be responsible for a portfolio of Bank’s corporate clients (with portfolio diversified across various sector) and to analyse and make recommendations on counterparty transaction proposals submitted by the Business for existing or new clients. Given MUFG Bank growth aspirations, transaction size and/or complexity, many transactions including new clients will require early engagement and close cooperation across different Business areas and support functions, in order to support and guide the Business in respect to risk appetite, due diligence, structuring, financial modelling and risk assessment. This is an important hire within ICD A&O and the role requires a high calibre individual who can take on a high level of responsibility with minimum supervision and has the capability to progress within the organisation.

• Provide strategic direction and support towards organisational and departmental objective achievements by closely collaborating with the key stakeholders on a dynamic basis.
• Evaluation of credit applications, internal ratings and transaction proposals for new or existing corporate and/or financial institution clients in A&O with focus on Corporate related transactions. This includes reviewing transaction material and the analysis submitted by the Business, where appropriate challenging assumptions and conclusions.
• Providing solutions and adding value to the Business by engaging in client and transaction discussions, due diligence, giving clear guidance on policy and risk appetite and influencing transaction structures and facility terms & conditions to mitigate risk.

Job Requirements:

• At least 12 years of corporate credit experience within the banking/financial institution industry (Director).
• Experience in the analysis and documentation of traditional lending, trade finance, structured transactions and traded products, including derivatives and securities financing transactions.
• Experience in risk analysis and formulating recommendations on credit proposals across a broad range of client types, including corporates, preferably across a number of jurisdictions in Asia and/or Oceania.
• Experience in assessing M&A and leveraged finance will be viewed favourably, as well as experience in dealing with deteriorating and/or impaired loans.
• Good understanding of different sector risk dynamics, drivers and fundamentals, with an ability to apply this in the analysis of counterparty success factors and business and financial risks.
• Strong track record of working closely with Business partners, building trust and adding value by providing clear and early advice on risk appetite, due diligence requirements and structuring, and finding solutions to risk issues.
• Track record of providing a contribution beyond business as usual credit risk management, including around credit portfolio reporting, deep dive analysis, contribution to policy, ideas for improvement, special projects, etc.
