Database Management:
- Configure and maintain SQL Server databases, ensuring their availability, performance, sustainability, and security.
- Migrate On-Prem SQL Databases to Azure, AWS, Google Could solutions.
- Expert knowledge in creating and maintaining SQL Server Jobs.
Integration Deployment:
- Expert knowledge in SSIS catalog services and creating environments to perform seamless deployments between environments for SSIS packages.
- Expert in creating catalogs and SSIS environments and SSIS integration solutions using Visual Studio to deploy packages.
System Monitoring:
- Monitor system health and performance, identifying and addressing issues in real time.
- Experience with monitoring tools like SolarWinds and Nagios or developing own monitoring solutions using PowerShell scripting will be an asset.
Performance Optimization:
- Analyze, solve, and correct performance-related problems.
- Adapt proactive mentoring techniques to ensure maximum system uptime and less downtime for applications and business users.
Solution Recommendations:
- Provide suggestions for improving database processes and performance.
- Work closely with SMEs and programmers to align with best practice guidelines and provide direction to build robust applications.
Automation:
- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
- Experience in creating and using PowerShell scripts to manage core DBA tasks.
Query Tuning:
- Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement.
- Expert knowledge in Tuning Advisor and query plans to guide developers.
24x7 Support:
- Provide on-call rotation support for critical production systems, including after-hours maintenance and release deployment activities.
Data Recovery and Backup Strategies:
- Be prepared to manage data recovery scenarios.
- Define and implement robust backup and recovery strategies.
- Assist Development team by performing on-demand restore tasks as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields preferred
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or MCSE: Data Management and Analytics are advantageous.
- Experience: Preferably 15 + years of experience as a DBA, with advanced knowledge of large-scale databases in a 24/7 environment.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in database Server administration, including backups, restores, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with Windows Server, T-SQL, and PowerShell scripting.
- Understanding of high availability and disaster recovery concepts.
- Experience in DTS package conversion to SSIS and fine-tuning SSIS packages.
- Experience in creating Visual Studio solutions for integration services to deploy projects to SSIS catalog databases.
- Proven experience in cloud technologies (AZURE, AWS, Oracle, and Google).
