We are looking for a Founder’s Financial Analyst, Intern who will be based at our global headquarters in Singapore for at least five months to help our Founder and work with our Director of Administration on all aspects of the business.

What You Will Be Doing

Part management consulting and part investment banking analyst role combined in a startup without the long hours and high stress. Work directly with our founder (former management consultant, investment banker and CFO) to manage the business aspects of CognaLearn. A wonderful way to get a broad startup experience. Areas include:

1. Capital raising: Investor due diligence, meetings and pitch decks

2. Investor relations: Monthly investor updates and metrics tracking

3. Financial modeling: Update financial models and metrics

JOB SCOPE AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Internal Controller will be responsible for maintaining a strong internal control environment through the development, implementation and communication of policies and procedures in the APAC region. The Internal Controller will also be involved in projects of varying complexity and scope on all aspects of the organization, including but not limited to finance, regulatory and operations.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND RELATED ACTIVITIES:

• Lead and participate in internal control projects driven by Regional and Global, and coordinate with entities to promote project execution on schedule
• Perform daily payment checks (FDP) and responsible for payment related reports to Group IC based on requirements
• Closely follow up on action plans arising from internal/external audits and IC reviews, work collaboratively with business and process owners to ensure the remediation is implemented with due dates
• Coordinate with entities for internal control projects, surveys and data mining to ensure a timely delivery with reasonable quality
• Develop and conduct adequate trainings for business partners and stakeholders to promote the awareness of internal control and risk management
• Play as a key knowledge leader of Minimum Control Standard (MCS) and other Group Finance Policies and contribute to promote the control awareness across the territory
• Support special projects as needed

TECHNICAL SKILLS - PORTRAIT OF A PERFECT CANDIDATE

• Educational Background in Accounting and Finance
• At least 3 years of experience in Big 4 with further experience in internal controls in a commercial environment preferred
• Understanding of Accounting concepts mandatory
• Strong problem solving skills
• Experience in SAP, D365, Oracle a plus
• Collaborative workstyle
• High level of independence, initiative, integrity and resourcefulness
• Analytical and results orientation
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

• Educational Background: Degree in Finance / Accountancy / ACCA

LANGUAGES:

• Proficient in English. Knowledge of other Languages (Bahasa, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin) a plus for business communication purposes with related countries in scope.

• Involvement in annual budget and periodic forecasting including establishing assumptions and analysis
• Perform potential project/investment appraisals and post-implementation analysis
• Close liaison with company secretary
• Participate in ad-hoc projects such as process improvements, automation of financial processes and driving automation
• Business partner and support the business in analysis of revenue and streamlining of operating/capital expenditures
• Support the automation of processes and business initiatives
• Plan and execute financial, operational and compliance internal audits
• Identify and communicate business inefficiencies, internal controls weaknesses or operational issues as well as follow-up on corrective actions
• Conduct special audits as and when required
• Prepare tax computations
• Assist with tax queries, regulatory reporting and liaison with internal/external auditors, tax advisors and other relevant local authorities

Requirements

• An Accounting Degree/ACCA qualified with at least 2 years of working experiences, preferably as an auditor
• Sound accounting technical knowledge and skills as well as extensive knowledge in Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (International) (FRS(I))
• Knowledge of group consolidation is an added advantage
• Motivated, inquisitive, positive mind-set and proactive individual with strong analytical skills
