Background
We are a specialist marine and energy insurer and a member of the International Group of Protection and Indemnity clubs, owned by its shipowner members and controlled by a board of directors drawn from its membership.

Role purpose
The Loss Prevention Senior Executive uses knowledge and experience to enhance our risk selection capabilities and contributes towards a reduced number of claims.
Working in collaboration with our Geo and Specialty Sectors you’ll establish strong working relationships internally and externally with our members and clients.
What will you be doing?
Key responsibilities will include:
- Contributing to the goals or targets of the geosector(s) or specialty(ies) area to which you are assigned.
- Using the benchmark/review process to assess the LP risk profile of members/clients and to share this information with relevant parts of the business e.g. UW function and Geosectors.
- To assist with internal and external delivery of the LP enquiry service.
- Supporting the claims function with technical, and operational input.
- Engaging regularly with members/clients to promote positive changes to their organisation that will assist them with reducing the number of incidents that may give rise to claims. It will also give you a better understanding of the risks the business poses to NorthStandard and support the risk selection capability of the business. This may or may not form part of a LP review process.
- Providing members/clients with the tools, services and knowledge that support positive changes to their organisations.
- To provide LP input on recommendations made to your geosector or specialty by the survey team.
- Contributing to and/or leading projects, workstreams, publications and other activities as directed by the Global Head of Loss Prevention.
Ad Hoc Duties
Your key accountabilities will include such other duties and tasks are as allocated to you at the discretion of management and that are within your capabilities and within the scope of your post.
About you
Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience
- COC 1 holder with senior deck or engine experience
- Shore side experience in ship management or survey company
- Comfortable speaking in public
- Willing to travel
- Proactive, flexible and able to work autonomously
- IT literate with good working knowledge of MS Office 365
