Working hours: Monday to Friday, Flexi-reporting hours between 8.30am to 10am

Salary: $3,300 to $3,800 per month + AWS + VB

Job Description

• To acquire IP (intellectual property) rights from external companies to collaborate with our trading card games
• Source and identify new business opportunities from companies whose IP will fit into our games
• Negotiate and execute new/renewable license agreements to comply with contractual requirements for product titles and maximize revenue opportunities
• Negotiate royalty and minimum guarantees with companies for their IP
• Create and manage licensing business documents, processes and records in both Japanese and English, including, but not limited to, licensing agreements/contracts administration, rights management, product release calendars, tracking of payment and royalties, facilitating of additional copyright licenses as necessary
• Assist in the approval process of licensed products and marketing materials

Job Requirements

• Candidate must possess at least a Diploma/Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Bachelor's Degree/Post Graduate Diploma/Professional Degree in any field
• At least 2 years of work experience in a relevant field
• Excellent communication skills in English and Japanese, both written and oral, to liaise with Japanese speaking associates (Possesses JLPT N1, or experience with using Japanese language in business settings preferred)
• Sensitive to cultural and linguistic nuances
• Excellent at schedule management and multitasking
• Adept at working both independently and in a team
• Effective decision-making skills, strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
• Meticulous and attentive to detail
• Has basic knowledge of games and/or anime
• Open to work on some weekends/public holidays for Company events
• Open to travel overseas for business trips when required

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work very closely with our lawyers in various practice areas. Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Providing full secretarial support to our lawyers
• Preparing correspondences and legal papers
• Assisting in specialised tasks unique to the legal profession

Requirements:

• Higher Nitec, GCE 'O', 'A' levels or Diploma
• At least 5 years of legal secretarial experience in a Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice
• Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook software applications
• Good typing speed and accuracy
• Good command of written and spoken English
• Possess initiative and ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment

JOB SUMMARY

• Provide transactional legal support for GCM Lending and Leveraged Acquisition Finance matters throughout the Group’s offices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy

• Lead and take responsibility for providing legal advice, guidance and support to the Global Credit Markets business and associated stakeholders on all legal matters.
• Develop thought leadership capability as a member of the Global Credit Markets Legal team.

Business

• Ensure that regulatory reform/changes are appropriately assessed and managed from a Global Credit Markets Legal perspective.
• Maintain close relationships with appropriate stakeholders (including the Global Credit Markets product Business Head, relevant individuals in the Global Credit Markets product business team, relevant individuals within the COO function and other relevant Global Credit Markets representatives) and provide them with legal advice, guidance and support.
• Providing GCM Lending related legal advice with respect to GCM Lending products.
• Provide transactional and documentation support to GCM Lending business in Asia having regard to Product Programme Authorisation (PPG)/Country Addenda (CA) parameters and, if applicable, the Group’s minimum standards and guidance for the relevant product(s) or service(s).
• Act as lead lawyer for complex multi-jurisdictional GCM transactions in Asia, collaborating with the relevant regional and/or country Head of Legal to provide seamless support to the business.
• Work with Product and other stakeholders to structure and define parameters for new products and initiatives and develop template legal documentation.

• Provide assurance to the Global Credit Markets legal team on the management of legal enforceability risk within the context of the relevant risk management system in place at the time.

• Establish, maintain and manage effective global processes (including training, advice and support) to ensure that policies, procedures and standards addressing legal risk are effectively implemented in respect of Global Credit Markets in a context appropriate to the relevant risk management system in place at the time.

Governance

• Ensure that any papers being tabled by Legal at any relevant governance committees have been reviewed from a Global Credit Markets Legal perspective.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

• Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across the Standard Chartered Group. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
• Lead the Global Credit Markets team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles.
• Effectively collaborate, identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters

• Lead from a Global Credit Markets Legal perspective on any bank-wide projects requiring input.

Our Ideal Candidate

• 8+ years experience with a strong legal background
• Qualified to practice as a solicitor/attorney or barrister/advocate.
• Experience in private practice or in-house of managing complex legal issues.

• Arranging import/export shipments for customers
• Liaise with air/sea freight co-loaders, shipping lines, and transporters to ensure timely delivery of customer's shipments to various destinations
