OVERVIEW
As a Broadcast Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the seamless operation and optimal performance of all broadcast equipment and systems. Your role will involve maintaining high technical standards to guarantee the continuous and uninterrupted transmission of our originated channels. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all systems are fully operational, facilitating smooth broadcasting and minimal downtime. You will be the backbone of our broadcast operations, ensuring everything runs efficiently across CNBC Asia Pacific’s platforms.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of broadcast equipment and contribute to new installation projects
- Lead assigned engineering projects, managing the planning, design, and implementation phases
- Maintain and update system and infrastructure diagrams to ensure they reflect any changes to the facility or infrastructure
- Ensure continuous, uninterrupted operation of CNBC Asia Pacific’s originated channels
- Maintain and ensure the full operational functionality of production systems to support scheduled production activities
- Ensure post-production systems remain fully operational to meet post-production schedule
- Address and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize disruption to broadcast operations
- Perform routine and critical maintenance on on-air transmission equipment, studio equipment, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), air conditioning and computers, ensuring timely and efficient service
- Perform front line maintenance for Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) systems, including air conditioning and UPS systems
- Liaise with external suppliers, manufacturers and third-party service providers as required to source fixes for any identified gaps
- Provide proactive, engaged technical support to the Engineering team and ensure all systems remain up-to-date and functional.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant experience in maintaining broadcast or mission critical IT systems
- Familiarity with video transcoding technology, video formats and codecs and file-based systems/workflows
- Proven ability to solve complex technical issues and a passion for continuous learning and tackling new challenges
- Ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while effectively resolving problems
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills
- Willingness to work shifts including early mornings, late evenings, weekends and public holidays
- Willingness to serve as the on-call duty engineer, covering after office hours, weekends and public holidays.
DESIRED ATTRIBUTES
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a similar role
- Hands on experience and knowledge with equipment such as Grass Valley Stratus/Edius System, Morpheus Ice, VizRT, GV Router/Multiviewer/Orbit, Ross systems and MediaKind systems
- Ability to read/update technical AutoCad drawings
- Familiarity with video transcoding technology, video formats and codecs, and file-based workflows
- Knowledge of or experience with Uplink Compression system, Video Contribution/ Distribution systems
- Knowledge of or experience in a broadcast live production environment.
