Qualifications and Education Requirements:

The successful candidate will have a completed PhD degree in History, and have a strong research agenda rooted in World History, with no preference for regions. Candidates should have an international profile commensurate with their rank and stage of career. The Department is particularly interested in applicants with research interests and accomplishments in one or more of the following subfields: gender; science, technology, and society; environment; the ancient world; and international relations. Overview

The Spanish Instructional Assistants are primarily responsible for providing support to students and teachers as part of the Elementary World Language Program.

SAS is looking for fluent Spanish speakers who are able to develop good relationships with Elementary aged school children as well as others in the school. Although the list of responsibilities is multiple and varied, unexpected emergencies or circumstances may arise that require the Instructional Assistant to perform other duties as assigned by the Deputy Principal or Principal.

Responsibilities

Support for Learning

• Assist teacher(s) in delivery of the curriculum and planned curriculum activities.
• Interact with and guide students during activities planned by a teacher (including during times of brief absence of the teacher).
• Assist teacher(s) monitoring student’s learning progress using appropriate tools/softwares as instructed.
• Assist teacher(s) in preparing teaching materials to enhance the learning experience in the classroom.
• Work with individuals and/or groups of children under the direction of the classroom teacher.
• Ensure the classroom environment is well-organised, neat and adequately stocked.
• Develop effective relationships with children, parents and teachers to support a conducive learning environment.
• Communicate effectively and confidently with colleagues, teachers, administrators, students and parents.
• Participate fully in professional development opportunities made available by SAS.
• Participate fully with a growth mindset with colleagues, teachers, and administrators.

Supervision and Student Care

• Ensure children’s safety during times designated by supervisor (e.g., before school, break, between classes, lunch, after school).
• Assist children with safe passage arriving and departing campus.
• Assist teacher(s) and enforce protocols during times of emergency (e.g., during fire drills, during lock-downs, evacuation).
• Assist supervisor in monitoring for safety hazards in the environment (e.g., loose tiles, loose safety rails, sharp objects).

Clerical Responsibilities

• Use relevant software to manage all routine administrative duties, as assigned by the supervisor (e.g., take attendance, student lists for field trips).
• Take initiative to prepare materials, checklists and paperwork as required by the supervisor. (e.g., stocking classrooms, replenishing consumable supplies, making trips to bookstore on behalf of teachers, distribute mail).

Qualifications Required

• Communication: Excellent Spanish language skills (native or fluent speaker) and good English communication skills, both written and verbal
• Cultural Competence: To support the integration of cultural content into lessons, offering students meaningful insights into the customs, traditions, history, and arts of the target language cultures, experience living in a Spanish speaking country is advantageous.
• Content Knowledge: Diploma or certificate from a recognized Polytechnic or equivalent, Clerical, typing and Google App skills preferred; Working proficiency in computer usage
• Collaboration: Team spirited, driven and "go the extra mile" attitude is essential; strong customer focused mindset and execution approach
• Creativity: Personal growth mindset, open to acting on feedback

Competence: Experience working with children in an educational setting is highly preferred; Willingness to be flexible and adaptive to learning and classroom needs. Full-time teaching experience in a K-12 setting is advantageous.

Job Description:

• Serve as the point of contact for clients and communicate with them by phone and email to respond to questions and requests. Answer client questions about property facilities/services.
• Generating reports, preparing proposals, coordinating with clients & suppliers.
• Prepare sales-related documents throughout the sales process (e.g., proposals, contracts, banquet event orders, CVGR letters).
• Gather materials and assemble information packages (e.g. brochures, promotional materials, sales demo kit, welcome kit, souvenir etc.).
• Assist the sales team by managing schedules, filing important documents and communicating relevant information. Arrange and co-ordinate meetings, events and any appointments.
• Record, transcribe and distribute minutes of meetings.
• Meets with clients in the absence of the Director of Sales or Sales Managers; perform hotel site tours with potential clients.
• Print Daily Sales reports for each sales manager and submit to the Director of Sales.
• Print Sales manager productivity reports for each sales manager and submit to the Director of Sales.
• Ensures all documents produced by the Sales Department (i.e. contracts, rooming lists, proposals) are completed accurately and on time.
• Respond to complaints from customers and give after-sales support when requested.
• Ensure the adequacy of sales-related equipment or materials are available at all times.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director or the management.

Job Requirements

• Min GCE 'O' Levels
• Candidate with relevant experience working in a hotel, clerical or sales will be added an advantage.
