Description:

Multi-omic analysis of secreted factors from various datasets was carried out, including human, mouse and primate plasma and metabolic tissues to identify novel primate-specific secreted factors critically involved in the regulation of physiology balance. Integrative data analysis and in silico rank scoring revealed a list of promising secreted factor candidates. The lab of RNA in Disease and Translational Technologies at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, A*STAR, Singapore is seeking to recruit a highly motivated Scientist or Senior Scientist to join a team developing a ribozyme-based RNA platform for potential translational and/or clinical applications.

A Research fellow position is available in Dr. Anand Andiappan Laboratory at the Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN). The successful candidate will support the research work that focuses on studying inflammaeing in the context of skin aging in Asian populations.

The candidate will work on primary cells from cohorts and cell culture systems towards understanding functional immune responses in skin immune interactions and recapitulating them in in-vitro and ex-vivo systems. Additional work involves cellular and stimulation assays with flow cytometry and FACS analysis along with imaging by microscopy, and associated data analysis with statistical tested.

Major Challenges:

As quantum computers are operated in extreme physical conditions and thus the cost per run is significantly high, it is desirable to verify the correctness of a quantum programs before the execution. However, the verification task of quantum programs is challenging due to the following reasons:

• Quantum programs (even written at high-level languages) are complicated to comprehend as it requires a good understanding of quantum mechanics and the relevant advanced mathematics.
• The quantum states are exponentially huge in size because the state of a classical bit is either 0 or 1 at any time, while the state of a quantum bit (qubit) can be in the superposition, where both states 0 and 1 can co-exist simultaneously. This induces the state explosion problem for brute-force-like methods.
• Quantum states are naturally probabilistic thus may yield different results on different runs, which is challenging for the testing and debugging methods.
