Responsible overall for an organisation's sales growth, a sales Director drives the development of sales strategies by leading client segmentation and competitor analysis. The Director also takes charge of expanding sales channels and networks, fostering client relationships through contract and customer service management, and increasing client acquisition and retention through analysis of client behaviour. Mentoring and offering strategic guidance to the marketing team is also part of the job.
This individual is innovative and forward-thinking, commutes frequently to identify and develop key sales opportunities, and keeps abreast of market trends and major industry events and activities, such as by attending relevant international events and conventions.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Collaborate with members of the Marketing team to penetrate key markets.
· Define the approach for the overall sale of new business and account retention.
· Develop a comprehensive sales and distribution strategy to maximise sales opportunities.
· Develop sales and distribution policies that reflect the organisation's goals.

EDUCATION
1. Degree in Business Administration, Economics or equivalent

1. Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in sales and marketing with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles in a sizeable company in a consumer or engineering industry
2. Possess high degree of integrity and strong analytical skills.
3. Demonstrate leadership and business acumen, having a proven record in business partnering and commercial value add to regional operating subsidiaries.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
FINANCIAL RETURNS:
Achieve budgeted revenues and personal/team sales goals and maximise profitability. Participate in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget, the hotel sales and marketing plan and business plan, and financial plans.
Create and implement sales plans that drive measurable incremental occupancy, increase average rates, increase volume, food and beverage and banquet sales.
Produce/Review monthly reports and sales forecasts to analyse current/potential market and sales trends, coordinate activities to increase revenue and market share and monitor performance to ensure actual sales meet or exceed established revenue plan.
Curate and develop special events and sales activities to potential clientele.
Represent hotel in trade shows and major market events locally and nationally to promote new business and increase sales and marketing opportunities for the hotel.
PEOPLE:
Manage day-to-day sales activities, plan and assign work, and establish performance and development goals for team members. Provide coaching and regular feedback to help manage conflict, improve team member performance, and recognize good performance.
Educate and train sales team that is responsible for developing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, and implementing sales strategies. Ensure staff is properly trained and has the tools and equipment to carry out job duties.
Work with other department managers to ensure proper staffing levels based on hotel occupancy.
Recommend or initiate any HR related actions when required.

GUEST EXPERIENCE:
Provide guests with information (example: loyalty programmes, area attractions, restaurants, facility information) to elevate guest experience.
Develop and maintain relationships with key clients and outside contacts in order to produce group and/or convention business, to include room sales and food & beverage sales.
Schedule conventions and/or business group activities at the hotel and coordinate with other hotel-level departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients.
Communicate to appropriate departments all pertinent information requirements and special needs for arriving VIP’s, large groups, and other key guests.
Lead marketing efforts to up sell guests on hotel services, offerings, and amenities.
RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS:
Identify operational problems that reduce the effectiveness of marketing activities and overall hotel sales performance and work with appropriate department on solutions
Develop awareness and reputation of the hotel and the brand in the local community
Connect with key business leaders, officials, and representatives of local community groups within the city to ensure constant high-profile exposure for the hotel
Effectively communicate and market aspects of the hotel that are sustainable or “green” and use information to gain new business opportunities
Raise the awareness and reputation of your hotel and the brand locally occasionally acting as hotel representative for media related enquiries
Identify improvements to marketing activities and overall hotel sales performance and work with other departments
Perform adhoc duties unexpected moments when we have to pull together to get a task done

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree / higher education qualification / equivalent in marketing or related field, and two to four years’ experience in a hospitality or hotel sales and marketing setting with direct supervisory experience over a sales team, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. The role will be based out of Singapore, reporting to the Vice President of Partner Sales, Asia Pacific. English and Mandarin speaking is essential to this role.
