We are looking for an experienced Food Science and Innovation Director with passion for food, people and innovation, who can generate and manage major innovation projects.

This critical role oversees the development of innovative products from conceptualization to commercial launch. They oversee all aspects of the NPD process including identifying market trends and opportunities, managing projects and teams, developing intellectual property, bringing new products and services to market, and evaluating opportunities for licensing or acquisition.

Accountabilities:

• Managing the end-to-end NPD process including prototyping, sensory testing, and process scaling
• Partnering with leading global food companies on co development of innovating new products that unlock consumer demand
• Driving cross-functional NPD projects in partnership with representatives from marketing, manufacturing, quality assurance, procurement, and finance
• Monitoring food science and nutrition trends, ingredients innovations, and emerging technologies for product development opportunities
• Ensuring NPD portfolio delivers on revenue growth, margin, and launch timing goals.
• Protecting intellectual property related to proprietary ingredients, product formulations, and process technologies.
• Building partnerships with universities, research institutes, and other companies

Minimum Skills Required:

• 10+ years of management experience directing food product development projects that have successfully launched into retail or foodservice markets.
• Advanced degree in food science or technology
• Supervisory/managerial experience required.
• Familiarity with food science equipment required.
• Project Management experience required.
• Experience with consumer insights, culinary innovation, and nutrition.
• Successful track record developing and implementing category growth strategies
• Strong leadership, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

Job Description

The mission of the Centre is to improve population health and well-being by accelerating the use of behavioural and implementation science in health policy and practice.

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about improving health and well-being for everyone, through approaches that bridge research, community and government.

Responsibilities include:

• Work hand-in-hand with Directors, Principal Investigators and Visiting Professors, to develop strategy that meets overall research, translation, implementation and education objectives of the Centre.
• Establish an independent research agenda through collaborations with health institutions, government agencies and private sector through internal or extramural funding
• Represent a core part of the leadership team for programs on public policy and research implementation and for outreach to professional bodies
• Oversee implementation of education activities of the Centre for Behavioural and Implementation Science Interventions (BISI) under NUSMed.
• Oversee research and education staff supervision and mentorship

Qualifications

• An advanced degree in behavioral science, Biomedical science, psychology and other related disciplines
• At least 8 years working experience, with 3 – 5 years of this time previously committed to work in the science or health sector interface with policy, implementation, public administration and government.
• Prior demonstrated leadership and managerial expertise is essential, as this role requires the candidate to build team capacity and expertise in a growing field
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to manage multiple, diverse stakeholders, and communicate effectively
• An analytical mind with experience in program design and management (e.g. assessing evidence, proposals) in the public sector, and the ability to package and communicate information effectively

You will work closely with key stakeholders internally and externally to achieve the outcomes of various programmes, and develop a deep understanding of R&D policies and their wider impact on the research ecosystem in Singapore. You will acquire skills in interpreting data to develop policies, as well as develop deeper organisational awareness. The ability to be agile and thrive in a changing work environment is a must!

As an officer in RPP/A&O, your key areas of work would include the following:

Resource and Performance Monitoring

1. Support Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC) senior management in the governance and allocation of resources;

2. Synthesise data and develop recommendations to support executive decision making;

3. Support the review and improvement of SERC strategy, operations and processes, including the improvement of SERC investments and activities;

4. Develop specific measures of success with relevant experts;

5. Conduct financial modelling and monitor budgets for SERC entities;

6. Analyse and track performance of SERC entities in response to overall strategies.

Corporate Planning

7. Support SERC senior management in key meeting platforms and monitor strategic and management issues across SERC;
