POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The SVP, Wealth Management has primary responsibility for ensuring the maintenance of appropriate standards of conduct and adherence to proper procedures of the group and in particular, actively and visibly engaging in compliance issues, including ensuring adequate control systems and procedures, demonstrating a continuous and serious approach to regulatory risk forecasting and enlisting help from Legal and Compliance where necessary. The incumbent sets the tone from the top by leading as an ethical example and a champion of firm culture, leading the team and employees under his / her managerial oversight (including matrix and dotted line reports) in the areas of performance management, remediation input, conduct risk and feedback management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

• Assumes overall leadership and management for the establishment of the Wealth Management business platform in Singapore, including relevant systems, policies, process, and control framework etc.
• Build and grow the Wealth Management team in Singapore.
• Lead the Wealth Management team to develop new clients, maintain and develop the relationship with existing clients.
• Lead the Wealth Management team to develop new Wealth Management products and services.
• Continue to drive business and adjust direction based on market changes and development with comprehensive market experience and expertise.
• Manage the relationship between different business vertical within the location, to ensure revenue opportunities are maximized.
• Overseeing and monitoring the daily operations of the Wealth Management Business Functions to ensure business activities are conducted in accordance with all regulations, policies and procedures.
• Working closely with other stakeholders in the development and maintenance of internal policies and procedures applicable to the business function.
• Championing a strong compliance culture within Wealth Managements Business Functions, where staff are trained, guided and supported to meet internal and external regulatory requirements as well as the Group’s Code of Conduct and other policies.
• Visibly engaging in Compliance issues, including ensuring adequate control systems and procedures, demonstrating a continuous and serious approach to regulatory risk forecasting.
• Authorizing resolutions to client complaints, escalating where necessary in accordance with the Incident Management policy.
• Leading the way in responsible risk management by actively demonstrating sound understanding of risk appetite.
• Ensure staff are competent for their duties, appropriately supervised, and regularly reviewed with regard to the level of competence appropriate to the nature of their work.
• Participate in appraisal and compensation matters of the Singapore Wealth Management team, ensure Performance Management objectives are set and agreed with the Singapore Wealth Management team, actively performance manage sales staff who underperform, take responsibility for the development of the sales staff.
• Implement and document effective management and organizational structure, ensuring adequacy of resourcing.
• Ensure appropriate incident handling, including appropriate remediation plans.

KEY COMPETENCIES & SKILLS, QUALIFICIATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Extensive knowledge and understanding of Wealth Management gained from a minimum of 6 to 10 years relevant industry experience.
• Strong relationships with CLSA’s existing client base and other industry contacts – personally respected in the market.
• Strong knowledge of market products and exchange regulations, and other regulatory requirements.
