As a part of the NRF Fellowship Project on Materials-by-Design, School of Materials Science & Engineering (MSE) is looking to hire a Research Assistant with expertise in high-throughput synthesis of inorganic materials and optimization using machine learning. The Research Assistant will build upon our team’s experience toward developing high-throughput experimental platforms for synthesis, characterization and functional performance testing (thermoelectric performance, catalytic performance) of a library of materials.  The Research Assistant will focus on synthesizing and characterizing inorganic materials, specifically inorganic chalcogenides for thermoelectrics and metal alloy catalysts for CO2 reduction.

Additionally, the Research Assistant will conduct in-depth structural and elemental characterization and analysis of the materials using XRD, SEM-EDX and XPS. Finally, thermoelectric measurements experiments will be conducted. The Research Assistant should be able to utilize design-of-experiments and high-throughput experimental workflows. In addition, materials science and metallurgical concepts such as phase diagrams, mapping and separating different phases and oxidation states of compounds and rapid structural analysis are required. Finally, machine learning will be applied to guide experimental campaigns.

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct synthesis of inorganic thermoelectric materials using various high-throughput synthesis techniques.

• High-throughput synthesis of materials for CO2 reduction will also be conducted.

• Develop new high-throughput methods, and accordingly modify hardware for their execution.

Sales Support

Work location: Sin Ming Lane

Working hours: 8.30am-6pm / 9am-6.30pm (5 day work per week)

Salary: $2,000 - $3,000

Job Responsibilities:

• Support sales team on daily administration
• Handle email/phone enquiries
• Process sales order and follow up payment with clients
• Update and monitor daily the Sales data system to support the Sales team forecast exercises.
• Coordination, monitor and troubleshooting assistance for client’s order, account statuses and other relevant problems.
• Coordination of shipping schedule.
• Preparation of shipping documents (commercial invoice, packing list etc.).
• Follow up with clients on the phone for administrative purposes.
• Assist in general administration duties and Ad-hoc duties assigned by superior.

Requirements:

• Minimum “O” level, Professional Certificate, or Diploma in Business Administration or equivalent
• Knowledge in office supplies or office automation would be an advantage.
• Knowledge on Navision system would be an advantage

Job description:

• Assist the Compliance officer in performing his/her responsibilities
• Provide compliance support to the business and work with other members of the team to ensure all required records and compliance registers are maintained in an accurate and timely manner
• Liaise with staff from compliance colleagues globally and other departments as required
• Assist in preparing for and responding to routine reviews/audits and maintain compliance review files to include follow-up of all items required by regulators for audit purposes
• Assist in scheduling appointments, meetings, video conferences and special events for the Compliance department
• Assist in scheduling new employee training on AML for all new employees and refresher training for all employees and onboarding of new hires into the compliance function
• Coordinate meetings and collate weekly/monthly reports from Head of Compliance in various countries
• Perform administrative management and compliance oversight of a portfolio of contracts with external vendors that are engaged by the Company
• Communicate with internal departments such as HR, Finance, Marketing, Operations and external parties such as outside counsel and external auditor
• Carry out other ad hoc tasks assigned by the Compliance Team.

Qualifications:

• Ability to use good judgment and logic with attention to detail and organizational skills
• 1 year of experience in a corporate office environment is preferred
• Experience in preparing materials for compliance reporting
• Ability to review content for accuracy and consistency
• At least 1 year experience in Compliance or corporate secretariat and with basic knowledge of regulatory compliance issues
• Proficient with word processing, excel and computer skills
