Mechanical Design Engineer

Under work direction of Product Lead and R&D Manager, proceeding with own initiative, performs complex mechanical engineering duties following Company standards and procedures, working closely with other engineering and customers.

Responsibilities:

Conducts or participates in research, design, development and testing of mechanical assemblies including component modelling. Stress and tolerance analysis of products.

The "Mens, Manus and Machina—How AI Empowers People, Institutions and Cities in Singapore (M3S)" project is driven by the goal of investigating the nature of work, redefining our relationship with technology, and exploring how institutions can adapt to foster livability, sustainability, innovation, and social welfare.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that aim to develop state-of-the-art AI to create future smart cities. The Postdoctoral Associate is in the T7 project for the five-year M3S program in SMART. The SMART team seeks to advance the frontier of AI research, apply it to society and cities, and demonstrate the concrete social impacts of the AI algorithms with broad public acceptance in Singapore.

Specifically, the SMART-T7 project concerns the design of human-machine systems for the scheduling and allocation of valuable resources in ways that accommodate and optimize for the needs and capabilities of both humans and machines. The project aims to solve diverse use cases, including the stand allocation processes at Singapore Changi Airport and resource allocation on the Grab platform, as a paradigm for a broad set of other potential application contexts.

The problem of scheduling and allocating valuable resources appears in numerous contexts (e.g., transportation, health, public services, logistics) and scales. Many of these contexts share a set of common features. First, decisions regarding scheduling and resource allocation must be made in the face of uncertainty about the amount and timing of demand for these resources. This, in turn, means that plans must be updated dynamically as new information comes in. Moreover, a variety of stakeholders are typically involved and contend for the limited available resources, so that decision-makers must look for compromise solutions that “optimize”, in some way, the use of the resources, while balancing, to the extent possible, the requirements, priorities and social, economic, or demographic characteristics of these stakeholders. In short, these are complex problems involve multiple agents making multi-attribute decisions in a dynamic environment in the presence of uncertainty. Increasingly, AI- and ML-based tools are being brought by large organizations to bear on these problems and complement the expertise and experience of human managers and operators and the traditional decision-making support offered by more traditional (often large-scale) optimization models and algorithms. Optimizing human-machine interactions, training of humans and anticipating and mitigating potential societal, ethical, privacy and transparency issues related to these new tools are all critical aspects of the design of this next generation of scheduling and resource allocation systems.

The SMART-T7 team is led by distinguished scholars, i.e., Professor Hamsa Balakrishnan, Professor Jinhua Zhao, Professor Amedeo Odoni, and Professor Jason Jackson from MIT, and Professor Hai Wang from Singapore Management University.

Job Description

• Collaborate with the project team and other researchers to design, implement, and evaluate research projects.
• Publish research results in top-tier journals and conferences, and disseminate research findings through presentations and other means.
• Participate in the mentorship and training of graduate and undergraduate students at MIT and in Singapore.
• Assist in grant writing, project management, and other administrative duties related to research activities.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Job Requirements

• Ph.D. in Operations Research, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Network Science, Transportation Engineering, or a related field by the start of the appointment.
• Direction 1: Experience with general methods in decision-making under uncertainty, including stochastic and robust optimization, integer and combinatorial optimization, dynamic programming, and large-scale optimization; and/or
• Direction 2: Experience with general methods in machine learning, including reinforcement learning, deep learning, generative AI, multimodal AI, statistical modeling, and network analysis.
• Experience in the integration of machine learning and decision-making.
• Strong publication record in top-tier conferences and journals.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

What you will do

• Responsible for standard cell test key design of leading-edge process node (4nm/3nm/2nm), from schematic netlist to gds.
• Work with layout engineer for test key implementation and physical verification including DRC/LVS/ERC/ANT.
• Perform layout extraction, simulation, testing data collection and processing.
• Analyze simulation and silicon data including performance, power correlation, big data analysis, AI model training.
• Develop standard cell library from architecture evaluation, PPA assessment and customized cell design with different PPA purpose and IP blocks.
• Develop advanced library generation methodology and flow, including timing & power characterization, kit generation, regression, and quality assurance, involved with data analysis and machine learning as well.

What you bring

• BS/MS in Electrical and Electronic Engineering/Computer Engineering/Computer Science with minimum 8 years(MS) or 10 years(BS) industry experience.
• Solid understanding of foundation IP design, with device physics, transistor level circuit, layout dependent effect knowledge.
• Experience of test chip design in FinFet technologies is a plus, with understanding of DRM, layout rules, PV check, and simulation skills.
• Familiar with Python, Perl, Tcl or C/C++ for flow development and data analysis, machine learning.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the maintenance and operation of the building systems, including, electrical, plumbing, elevators, CCTV, alarm system, external security services, and other facilities.
• Ensure that the facility is fully operational, with all utilities functioning properly and preventive maintenance plans in place.
• Assist in managing the service contracts and relationships with external vendors, including cleaning, security, and maintenance services.
• Supervise and coordinate the activities of maintenance teams and outsourced contractors.
• Assist in the implementation of emergency procedures and evacuation plans annual drills.
• Conduct regular inspections and to recommend maintenance and repair for the upkeep of the building in compliance with governmental regulations and requirements related to building management.
• Coordinate and manage office moves, reconfigurations, and space optimization efforts.
• Ensure proper use of space and facilities.

Requirements:

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Real Estate or other related field.
• 3 years of experience in building or facilities management
• Strong knowledge of building systems (e.g., electrical, plumbing) and regulatory requirements.
• Hands on for repairs and maintenance.

• Work for physical design and development activities of MediaTek’s Ghz ARM-based microprocessors
• Involve in activities encompass physical design and analysis of complex and timing-critical microprocessor partition blocks and
• Technical disciplines include synthesis, floor-planning, place and route, RC extraction, timing and power optimization

[STA/Power Signoff]

• Involve in activities encompass Static Timing Analysis on advanced process nodes (28nm, 20nm, 16nm & beyond)
• Technical disciplines include STA, and analysis of complex and timing-critical microprocessor
• Work closely with RTL function designers and physical designers to optimize design components such as timing and power
• Design Methodology (1):
• This position is in charge of design methodology from RTL-Synthesis-DFT-PNR-STA-PI.
• Specific skill set is: able to boost productivity using either programming or EDA solution
• AI learning Programming is a big plus
