The Design Manager is primarily responsible to lead the coordination within the technical team (Structural, Architectural and M&E).

Job scope

• To research, design and develop new or improved industrial sensors based on clients’ requirement
• To provide design support for product improvement, cost improvement, function improvements, manufacturing process improvements
• To manage Client technical documents
• To manage FMEA, DFM, tolerance analysis before mass production
• To Create test plan and perform mechanical verification
• To Collaborate internal department during entire product life cycle
• To Verify regulatory compliance (UL, CE, RoHS/REACH, etc.) with support from approval department

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent
• 3 years experience
• High proficiency in design plastic moulding, metal injection moulding, sheet metal fabrication and other manufacturing technologies
• 2D & 3D CAD skills, SolidWorks is preferred

Responsibilities

• Interacting with clients across the Design & Build journey;
• Working closely with Principal Architect and other stakeholders (QS, Project Manager, Site Manager) throughout the design development and implementation stages
• Developing project briefs and working on them in parallel with the build process. Candidate must be comfortable working closely with clients to finalize design details;
• Preparing design proposals using AutoCAD and traditional drawing methods;
• Contributing to planning applications and other regulatory application procedures;
• Collaborating with our in-house construction and QS teams to evaluate design aspects of a construction project for cost and functional considerations;
• Preparing and producing construction documents and specifications, including quality control of work produced by more junior staff/direct reports;
• Making site visits to check on progress and ensuring that the project is on time;
• Solving problems that might occur during building/construction stage;
• Carrying out defect inspections;
• Developing and collating design standards and SOPs with other Senior Architects

Requirements Include

• Master or Bachelor of Architecture equivalent (Recognised by BOA)
• Registration with BOA an advantage
• At least 5 years of relevant experience. Preferred experience in design or project management of landed residential projects (New Erections)
• Direct design development towards architectural intent
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Sketch up, Revit and/or Lumion
• Comprehensive knowledge of construction details and materials
• Capacity to work in a challenging and fast paced environment
• Team player, with the willingness to collaborate with QS and Construction Management colleagues in a respectful and equal grounds environment

Job Description:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define electrical system requirements, specifications, and design criteria for marine vessel propulsion and control systems.
• Develop detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts using industry-standard design tools.
• Select appropriate electrical components, equipment, and materials to ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and performance standards.
• Design and implement control logic, automation, and monitoring systems for propulsion and manoeuvring.
• Oversee the installation, integration, and testing of electrical systems on marine vessels during construction or retrofit projects.
• Conduct thorough testing, troubleshooting, and validation of electrical systems to ensure proper functionality and adherence to design specifications.
• Collaborate with shipyard personnel and subcontractors to ensure proper installation and alignment of propulsion and control components.
• Coordinate with project managers to establish commissioning schedules, manage resources, and ensure timely project completion.
• Analyse and evaluate the performance of propulsion and control systems, identifying opportunities for optimization, efficiency improvement, and performance enhancement.
• Work closely with the research and development team to implement innovative technologies and solutions to address emerging challenges in marine propulsion and control.
• Create comprehensive technical documentation, including operation manuals, maintenance guides, and as-built drawings for electrical systems.
• Generate commissioning reports, test procedures, and status updates for internal teams, project stakeholders, and clients.
• Ensure that all designed and commissioned electrical systems comply with relevant maritime regulations, industry standards, and safety guidelines.
• Collaborate with regulatory bodies and classification societies to obtain necessary approvals and certifications for electrical systems.
