The Asian School of the Environment (ASE) at Nanyang Technological University is a diverse school focusing on the connections between geosciences, ecology, society and Earth systems. Our approach integrates these disciplines to examine big environmental challenges both in Southeast Asia and globally. We conduct cutting-edge research on topics that include ecology, geohazards, climate change, sea-level rise, environmental sustainability, conservation of environment and biodiversity, and interactions between environment and society. ASE is currently looking for a candidate to join them as a Research Assistant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Seeking research assistant to investigate the impacts of various area-based conservation measures (e.g. REDD+ projects and protected areas) on tropical forests around the world
- Contribute to a better understanding of market- and non-market based conservation measures through data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings
- Role will involve acquisition and processing of spatial data, statistical analyses, report writing and manuscript preparation and provision of administrative support on research-related matters
- Support the development of policy-relevant and multidisciplinary conservation research
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in natural science, climate science, geography, data science, engineering, or a related field is mandatory.
- Proficient with the collecting, processing and analysis of geospatial data.
- Prior experience with causal inference approach is preferred
- Competent in statistical analyses and data visualisation tools.
- Skills with coding/scripting using R and/or Python programming languages.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Highly self-motivated and independent with the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
