Senior Business Manager (SVP)

The Business Execution Manager is accountable for management of critical projects and initiatives for TTS business in Asia South. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within TTS business and how they interact in order to achieve the objectives of the. Business. Established in 1981, the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) https://www.ntu.edu.sg/eee is one of the founding Schools of the Nanyang Technological University. Built on a culture of excellence, the School is renowned for its high academic standards and research. We invite applications for the position of Manager. The incumbent shall drive operational excellence across multiple business units in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Relationship and Manpower Management

• Build an employee-centric workplace culture for all staff

• Manage employee engagement programs and drive culture integration.

• Develop a framework and create interactive job aides to guide employees in the effective solicitation of workplace services

• Analyze and propose procedures/ practices to manage various School manpower processes

• Identify necessary learning and development opportunities and provide administrative support

• Organize skill development programs for the growth of the employees.

Process and Operation Optimization 

• Identify opportunities for improvement, developing and implementing solutions together with School Management and business unit leaders.

• Lead ongoing reviews of business processes and develop optimization strategies.

• Streamline operations within a project process, maximize resource use and improving overall output. 

• Stay up to date on the latest process and IT advancements to automate and modernize systems.

Records Data Management

• Work closely with the relevant offices to oversee and manage data protection compliance in the School.

• Acquire data from primary and secondary sources and maintain a sustainable record management system.

• Curate data and provide periodic statistics reports according to University and School’s needs.

• Any other ad-hoc initiatives and assignments undertaken by the Office.

Requirements:

• At least a Bachelor qualification with at least 8 years of relevant experience in a tertiary institution.

• Past experiences/ IT skillset to automate and modernize systems will be preferred.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Excellent project, time management and problem-solving skills.

• Demonstrated experience in data collection and analytics.

• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective interpersonal relationships at all levels.

• Proven working experience in project management and ability to work under tight deadlines.

Job Description

• Assist with the preparation of weekly flash report.
• Prepare monthly P&L statements for the assigned services. Ensure team members complete the monthly closing for their services on time.
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation and distribution of monthly reports to the management. These include regional P&L, commentaries, actual vs. flash variance analysis, actual vs. budget gap analysis, etc...
• Prepare schedules for balance sheet accounts related to cost provisions, unearned/ unbilled revenue, cost recoveries, stock and prepayments. Ensure appropriate actions are taken, and in a timely manner.
• Liaise with external auditors on audit matters and manage the audit process.
• Drive preparation of regional forecasts (quarterly) and budget (annually). This includes ensuring reasonable assumptions are used by Line Managers and the forecast/ budget is reflective of current conditions and business plan. Revenue and cost drivers are to be properly analyzed and presented to management. Ensure submission of reports within stipulated deadlines.
• Being an effective business partner to the regional director and managers. Take pro-active steps to engage regional director and managers in understanding the performance drivers in greater depth, going beyond a pure reporting function. Drive value added analysis to provide useful business insights to support/ improve decision making.
• Ensure efficient and effective operation of disbursements process – include ensuring disbursements are checked for accuracy, relevant supporting documents are submitted and verified, disputes are resolved promptly, monthly reconciliations are prepared and discrepancies are followed up, and any advances given are accounted for/ recovered timely.
• Identify areas of improvements to existing processes/ systems. Take on lead role in system implementation/ improvement projects.
• Other ad-hoc work or projects may be given from time to time

• Degree in Accounting with a CA qualification or its equivalent.
• Possess at least 4 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in Shipping is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with strong working knowledge of MS Excel.
• Self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
