Team structure
The Finance team in Singapore comprise a total of six members: Finance manager, Management Accountant, Accounts executive, two Accounts assistants and a Credit controller.
The Management accountant will play a vital role in delivering accurate financial information to support the running of the office and decision making. The team is responsible for the processing and integrity of information relating to; accounts payable, credit control; legal cashiering, billing and revenue management as well as the preparation of management reports.
Main responsibilities
- Preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts.
- Preparation of Practice Group performance and investigating variances.
- Preparation of monthly balance sheet and interfirm account reconciliations in line with the firm's global month end timetable.
- Reviewing bank reconciliations, general ledger entries and posting of month-end and year-end journal entries.
- Preparation of monthly cash flow projections and ad hoc management information.
- Supporting the preparation of annual financial statements (e.g., balance sheets, income statements).
- Playing a key role in the preparation of the Singapore office's annual budget, as well as forecasting in line with firmwide processes.
- Review cashier payments and client account transactions (in accordance with SAR rules).
- Assisting with tax filings, including, GST, WHT or other statutory requirements.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory, SAR rules and internal controls.
- Liaising with external auditors on the annual audit and Accountant’s report.
- Support, mentor and develop the junior members of the team.
- Proactively engage with process optimisation initiatives.
Attributes / skills required
The successful candidate should have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting and or accounting qualifications like CPA/CA/ACCA or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a management accounting role preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standard
- Focused, accurate with strong attention to detail
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build professional relationships within the office
- High level of integrity and professionalism
- Proactive with strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Adaptable to change and comfortable working in a dynamic, international environment
