Position Purpose:

Reporting to the Group Head of FP&A, the Senior Finance Analyst will partner with the Business Unit Managers and support groups to provide the necessary guidelines, strategies, plans, processes and controls in the region and divisional brand P&Ls.

Responsibilities:

A. Budgeting/Forecasting & Variance Analysis

• Analyze revenue, profitability by brand/customer/channel/market with quality commentary
• Provide analytical support to cross-functional initiatives and ad hoc projects and cashflow forecast
• Systematic variance analysis with quality commentary/business insight to support business objectives

B. Financial Reporting

• Responsible for overall accuracy in P&L reporting during month end closing; including preparation of journals; working closely with Shared Services Team; review with Senior Business Controller

Role Overview

A real-time analyst/editorial role reporting to the Head of Credit, Asia, producing insightful content to tight deadlines that showcases IGM’s new issue data. IGM’s credit market coverage focuses on the primary syndicated bond market, tracking new issues individually and in aggregate, while seeking to present value added intelligence which builds upon what is available via other channels. Market analysis of this level requires development and maintenance of a mutually beneficial contact base with industry practitioners at all levels.  The role also requires a deep understanding of financial markets with an emphasis on fixed income credit, and an appetite to seek ways to add colour and context for subscribers and data users alike.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Data Scientist and Research Analyst to join our Palm Platform team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for agriculture and a thirst for learning new skills. As a Junior Data Scientist and Research Analyst, you will play a key role in developing and applying analytical and machine learning solutions to tackle various agricultural challenges. You will have the opportunity to work with large spatial-temporal datasets, standard analytical packages, and financial instruments to support supply, demand, and marketing strategies. Main Responsibilities:

• Contribute to database construction:  
  • Contribute to the construction and maintenance of internal databases and Python libraries.   
• Analyse internal and external data sources:  
  • Proactively monitor external data and market intelligence, stay abreast of routine releases, policies, and market trends. 
  • Analyse and extract valuable insights from data and market information.
• Develop high-quality models, including predictive models:  
  • Use high-quality statistical, econometric, and machine learning tools to analyze large-scale internal and public commodity-related data. This includes estimating supply, demand, and price models based on sound theory, and best-practice programming techniques, and state-of-the-art analytical tools. Clearly explain assumptions, model advantages, and limitations.  
• Create and maintain dashboards and custom tools:  
  • Develop dashboards and custom tools to deploy findings to commercial groups using latest tools and technologies, while ensuring its integrity and accuracy 
• Present findings:  
  • Present findings to broad commercial groups and effectively summarize and communicate model features and results for global risk management.

• Knowledge of statistical methods and machine learning techniques, with practical experience applying them to real-world agricultural problems 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills – Know how to communicate/explain complex ideas in a simple way to non-technical stakeholders

• Interpersonal skills, ability to forge relationships with colleagues and external contacts

• Genuine interest in global economics and commodities markets 

Technical Skills:

• Advanced IT skills (e.g., Excel, VBA, PowerPivot, Power Query) 
• Good Programming skills (Python, etc.) and experience with data analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, GeoPandas, etc.) 
• Strong command on SQL and Data visualization tools 
• Good Business Intelligence awareness

Academics:

• Work on the analytics projects across operation performance, HR and finance etc at group level

Who are we looking for?

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher. Major in mathematics, statistics, business, marketing, analytics related are preferred.
• Strong interest in working with data/database/big data for business problem-solving.
• Proficient in BI tools such as Tableau and Power BI; knowledge/experience in SQL/Python/R is a plus.
• Able to navigate through large, messy and complex data to extract business insight to help solve business problems.
• Passionate about identifying user pain points, process bottlenecks, or inefficiencies and designing data solution for resolution.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem solving, strategic thinking, and presentation & communication skills in front of leadership and stakeholders, outstanding organizational and time management skills to handle complex tasks efficiently, excellent stakeholder management ability, able to thrive in an agile, dynamic and collaborative environment.
• Able to work independently and under pressure, and to influence others without having direct authority.
