Our client is a leading materials testing laboratories and solutions provider for a wide range of fields including construction, life sciences, environmental, energy, transportation etc. They’re now on a look out for Lab/Department Managers to join their dynamic teams during an exciting time in their development.
about the job
- Responsible for directing and monitoring the daily activities of the lab operations
- Consistently maintain the safety and quality standards in the laboratory and manage initiatives
- Provides direction within the lab to ensure that production goals and customer expectations are consistently met
- Provide technical and engineering leadership within the lab
- Support the development of new technologies
- Proactively advise coworkers and customers requiring critical analysis of data
- Provides input and support on business development opportunities with new or existing customers
- Occasionally make presentations on conventional and/or routine testing to a wide range of stakeholders
- Assist in the development of new testing methods and procedures to enhance laboratory capabilities and service offerings.
- Review testing services and promote additional capacity and process improvement
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the department.
job requirement
- Degree in Civil Engineering or Materials Science
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
- Working knowledge of laboratory safety with extensive knowledge of the current suite of testing capabilities
- Must be very familiar with ISO17025 (candidates with Signatories of ISO17025 highly desirable)
- Candidates with experience with testing cementation/painting/tiling/coating will be highly desirable for the construction chemical department
- Understanding of continuous improvement disciplines such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, etc. preferred
