Team structure
The team in Singapore comprise a total of five members: Finance manager, Accountant, Accounts executive, two Accounts assistants and a Credit controller. The team is responsible for the processing and integrity of information relating to; purchase ledger; credit control; cashiering, billing and the preparation of daily, weekly and monthly reports. The finance manager prepares the management and financial statements.
You will have a dual reporting line to the Office Managing Partner, Daryll Ng and the CFO, Hamedeh Ghobadian.
You will be part of a wider team of finance professionals in the SH network of offices and will be in regular liaison with the Head Office team in London.
Main responsibilities
Finance function
- Day to day management of the Finance function in the Singapore office ensuring optimal structure and work allocation within the finance team.
- Oversee the preparation of GST tax and withholding tax returns.
- Process and control improvements of the financial operations and promoting consistency of operations in line with firmwide best practice.
- Managing working capital management and oversight of WIP and Debtor reviews with partners.
- Authorisation of overhead expenses in accordance with the Firm's policies.
- Authorisation of cashier payments.
- Review of client and office account bank reconciliations.
- Overseeing finance related policies and procedures and compliance with SAR rules.
- New joiner induction – finance related aspects.
- Coaching and mentoring the finance team.
Management Accounts
- Review of monthly management accounts, within the firm wide month end close timetable.
- On-going review and monitoring of the P&L against budget, ensuring that variances are understood and advising management of the same.
- Preparation of the annual budget and liaison with the FLA team in relation to the budget of our Singapore alliance law firm, Virtus Law.
- Preparation of forecasts during the year.
- Monthly presentation of financial performance to the Singapore partners.
- Review of full monthly cash flow statements.
- Regular reviews of balance sheet.
- Preparation of monthly payroll posting.
Annual Accounts
- Preparation of the annual audit and review audit of the annual accountant reports.
- Ownership and preparation of the Annual accounts including partner profit allocations, drawings and current account statements; this will be aligned to IFRS in due course.
- Liaising with tax adviser in relation to the preparation of the LLP’s annual tax return and adhoc tasks such as withholding tax and other tax related issues.
Partners and Tax
- Providing reports to assist Partner appraisals.
- Liaison with the London partnership team in relation to partners’ capital and current accounts held in London.
- Liaising with tax advisor in the preparation of the partner’s tax returns.
- Information requests / ad hoc reports from the London office.

Education and experience
- Proven experience working as a qualified accountant
- Experience of IFRS
- Proven experience in a similar senior role with international law firm experience
