The SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute (SDGHI) is an enabling platform for global health activities across the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre (AMC). We are currently recruiting an Education Associate I to provide support to the Education core as it continues to ramp up efforts in the global health education space both in Singapore and regionally. The responsibilities will include, but not limited to the following:

• Support the coordination and administration of graduate-level courses offered through the Education core, including development of syllabi, selection of learning materials, development of teaching materials, maintenance of learning management system, and communication with lecturers

Position Objective: A qualified executive with experience in teaching and delivering individualized intervention to join our team of multidisciplinary professionals who embraces the best interest of child and youth. He/she is committed towards the methodical planning, coordinating and executing of all educational-related policies/programmes/activities. The primary role of the executive is to provide tiered intervention to children/youths in consultation with the multidisciplinary team to promote the child/youth’s academic and personal excellence. The education executive is also responsible for working closely with key stakeholders to plan, organize and implement programmes and activities for the children and youths, manage volunteers and conduct needs and outcome assessments to measure and enhance programme relevance and effectiveness to bring about quality service and standards.

The Job:

Key Responsibilities:

A) Delivers effective and efficient individualised intervention to children/youths

- Manage children and youths’ behaviour for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment. - Create a positive learning culture using a trauma-informed inclusive education approach in the House of Wisdom. - Utilize data-based decision-making and evidence-based strategies to provide Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) and intervention plans for the children/youths with their respective case executives and in consultation with the Education Manager.

- Working with the school teachers to identify learning objectives for lesson planning with differentiated instruction.

- Plan, prepare, and deliver small group intervention in Social Emotional Learning to develop learners’ social-emotional and life skills.

- Provide academic support for learners according to their abilities and in alignment with mainstream or special school curriculum objectives.

- Coordinate and collaborate with colleagues e.g., caseworkers, therapy team and external stakeholders e.g. parent/guardians, schools, tutors, and volunteer tutors to deliver effective interventions to increase academic and personal success.

- Establish positive, safe, and trusting relationships with children/youths, their families and school teachers to encourage academic and personal progress specific to their needs.

- Commit to the continual professional development of not less than 50 training hours in any 2 years, which shall consist of at least 10 hours in Pedagogy training to keep current with the latest skills and ensure professional competency, subject to approval by the immediate supervisor.

B) Plan, organize and execute programmes and activities relevant and beneficial for the children and youths.

- To communicate and work with potential stakeholders such as organisations, vendors and volunteers, to bring in appropriate educational programmes that meet the needs of children/youths.

- Track the attendance of participants of the programme and plan for the tuition scheduling of the volunteers/tutors on a monthly basis.

C) Regularly assesses children’s/youths progress to modify instruction/intervention

- Provide education and career counselling to children/youths based on their learning abilities and career/academic aspirations so as to make good academic choices/career prospects.

- Coordinate, partner with/network with various Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) or companies for visits, learning journeys or taster workshops.

G) Supported Employment - Develop individualized employment plans with youth and incorporate input from the caseworkers when appropriate. Adjust the plan according to the youth’s needs and preferences. - Conduct job development and job search activities. Assess the client’s vocational functioning on an ongoing basis. Provide individualized on-site job coaching to assist youths.

- Provide education and support to employers, which may include negotiating job accommodations and on-site client supervision and support with frequent employer communication.

- Prioritize employer relations and solutions-based thinking through timely and proactive communication. Use conflict resolution skills to provide timely interventions. Return phone calls, follow up on job leads, and meet with youths consistently to resolve job issues.

H) Any other duties

- Review and update all educational policies, SOPs, programmes, children/youths’ education case file/data/information.

- Perform the secretariat role for planned and/or ad-hoc meetings where required.

Candidate's Requirements:

• At least 2 years of experience working within special education, providing learning support or community rehabilitation services for adults or youths at risk.
• Relevant qualifications in education, special education or psychology.

Reporting to the Director of Innovation and Educational Programs, this position oversees key school-wide educational programs. Responsibilities

Leading and Managing Staff

· Leading the Physical and Outdoor Education department strategically, creating a learning community with high standards, high expectations and a culture of collaboration and learning.

Recording and Assessment

· Develop understanding of learning needs and the importance of raising achievement for all students.

· Maintain and enhance systems for identifying, assessing and reviewing PE and Outdoor Education teaching staff and Sports coaches.

· Keep parents informed about their child's progress through regular reports, parents’ meetings and appropriate communication.

Budgets and Resources

· Identify resources needed to meet the needs of all PE and Outdoor Education students.

· Advise the SLT and the Line Manager of priorities for expenditure and manage the PE and Outdoor Education department budget.

· To have the day-to-day responsibility for all PE and Outdoor Education resources in the school.

• Lead in the design and crafting of group intervention
3. Manage Crisis
• Recognise signs and symptoms of distress
• Provide crisis intervention
• Administer suicide risk assessment
• Make recommendation for follow-up actions after the crisis
• Guide junior psychologist in crisis intervention including recognising signs and symptoms of distress, soft-skills to de-escalate students in distress, and conduct risk assessment

• Conduct psychological debriefing session after the crisis
4. Provide training to stakeholders
• Conduct training for stakeholders (e.g. employer education, staff induction)
• Conduct specialised training (e.g. CARE Kit training, Understanding self-harm behaviour)
• Lead in the design and customisation of training to meet needs of stakeholders
• Collect and collate of data to measure training effectiveness
• Evaluate and review effectiveness of training design to ensure overall training objectives are met
5. Perform Clinical Supervision
• Provide guidance to junior staff on assessment, case intervention so as to adhere to both organisational and psychological guidelines
6. Leadership
• Provide thought leadership in the design of the various portfolios in psychology discipline
• Provide ongoing guidance to junior psychologist or intern in their key responsibilities and functions
7. Administrative duties
• Digitization of reports
• Documentation of clinical duties
• Assist in preparing and submitting Key Review Area (KRA) and targets to AP Manager
• Carry out other administrative duties assigned by AP Manager

Job Requirements:

• Possess a Masters in Applied Psychology/ Clinical Psychology from an accredited university and be registered/eligible for registration with SRP or an equivalent professional body.
• Possess a minimum of 5 years of work related experience with relevant exposure in the area of intellectual disability or other related disabilities.
• Expertise and familiarity in conducting and interpreting psychological assessment
• Proficient in a range of evidence-based therapeutic interventions
• Skilled in crisis intervention and management
• Ability to provide training to stakeholders
• Dedicated to ongoing professional development through clinical supervision
• Provide leadership in assigned initiatives
• Ability to work collaboratively with other allied professionals in the department and with teachers and caregivers
• Candidate with Masters in Applied Psychology/ Clinical Psychology without the required minimum years of work related experience will be considered for the position of Psychologist
• Working Location: Choa Chu Kang
